There's videos online of the actual shooting with bodies strewn out and police/medics tending to them, I was trying to find one that censors that, since the mods look for any reason to remove a topic.

There was also 15 people shot early this morning at a Halloween gathering in Chicago.

Isn't Ybor a hub for LGBT gatherings? I know the Memorial Day Parade ran through there. Wonder what the motive was.

About the shooting. Three hours old, as of my posting. A lot of "two groups" which sounds like it could be polite journalism for "street gang," but I don't think the AP would shy away from calling it gang activity if it was...?

It may as well be inevitable to become a victim of gun violence in public places. It's important to at least mentally or emotionally prepare yourself for this inevitability.

Yeah I went to Ybor in March when I moved down here. 7th Ave has a lot of LGBT bars and is pretty open with LGBT. I can't remember the parade I'm thinking of, maybe it wasn't Memorial Day, but I know my brother went to it to celebrate LGBT. I'm just north of Tampa, luckily I decided against going out to the local outlet mall last night.

It's a party area like the French Quarter, but much smaller.

As for motive, probably just an asshole with access to guns. You can see two men starting to fight and then one pulls out a gun in the videos online, but again I can't post those here, so I went with the local news report.

They're fudging those numbers. Not all police departments in Florida are reporting crimes to the federal database and those that are, aren't reporting everything.

Oh, another mass shooting of about 20 people days after the Maine shooter had reportedly died? Sure wish this was the first time something like this has happened.
