also, the original coma theory for pokemon was that when he first falls down on his bike, so before he ever meets any pokemon, is when he went into a coma and pokemon became "real"

which did not ever, ever make sense because he falls down on mistys bike after pokemon have already been established in the real world. if it did happen before he got to the lab, then it could makse sense since you only see pokemon through his tv, his toys, and his dreams.
