Yeah, I'm over it. 5 years in this old, OLD house and I'm trying to GTFO. Just found out at beginning of December that I need to replace $25-30k worth of plumbing underneath the foundation, running from the bathroom to the backyard. For me the biggest complaint I usually have is keeping the yard mowed and weeded on a regular basis. It's a fairly big yard and I have mild grass allergies, so it's unpleasant every time. But it's worse if I procrastinate doing it and then have to really hack through it later.
Though it can also be annoying when you think you've got everything under control for once and then suddenly you get a bad storm and the roof springs a leak or the basement floods. Especially if you've got other stuff going on and are too busy to really want to deal with it, but you have to anyway because ignoring stuff like that only makes everything worse. --- "Wall of Text'D!" --- oldskoolplayr76 "POwned again." --- blight family ... My yard isn't huge, but it is an old property with older trees, so the ground tends to be rougher than yards in more modern houses. So far I've had to replace a roof, the windows and the furnace/AC unit. Only 'major' thing left is the siding at this point. (knock on copious wood) ... Copied to Clipboard!

As much as I'd feel the same about the upkeep, I wish I could afford a house within walking distance of my work. I'd have to keep the yard simple to reduce the amount of maintenance required, but still. I'd love a substantial donation for such a purchase, but I'm not counting on it. lol

I was able to make use of a first time homebuyer's program to get into my home. I paid maybe $2,500 out of pocket to buy a house lol. Then I got a month of financial break because you don't pay your mortgage for the first month. Then it was like paying rent again except towards my own home. I couldn't believe how lucky I got. ... But, that's a struggle amount to even rent anymore. Rent is constantly rising. I kinda saw I was getting phased out of my preferred rental area in 2019 and rushed to buy a house. It is really lucky I was shopping at that time. I also got a grant for $18,500 from the state government to go towards my down payment and closing costs. I am lazy as fuck with home maintenance. when my dad passed i really felt like a loser(in a way) for not keeping up with the yardwork as well as he did. I helped him some, but he did a LOT of shit out there. This year we got actual landscapers to clean it up, and now that I have a good framework I can kind of keep on top of it. ... Unless you prefer this as a way to "trap" thieves, but even in that case video evidence that someone might have trespassed is not as clear cut as some think that it proves she had ill intentions or did something. I have had my house for almost 13 years at this point, and I have had to replace every appliance in it except the heater (likely will be replaced this summer since it is 24 years old), the washer (likely needs to be replaced since it leaks water ever time I use it) and the dryer (Dryer will probably last forever, although I did replace the belt on it a few years back). I also have to replace the deck, and in a few years probably the roof.
