So a fairly good president with some bad ideas thats bad at messaging versus a wannabe fascist cult leader only running to avoid court cases?

Ehh. Trump winning is like Hitler getting to be President. Biden, Hilary and many would have to deliberately try to be that bad.

I think the poll results should enlighten some people here; currently less than 10% of users even jokingly voted for Trump in this poll. You wouldn't know it from all the topics trying to argue with that illusory fraction.

Why is a non-fascist unable to beat a fascist on his own merits? He should be able to win with just his own genuine supporters, not needing people who absolutely despise him to also vote for him.

Because the individual is an idiot. I've already said this. Otherwise reasonable people are completely brainwashed because they run Fox News all day.

It isn't necessarily that Biden can't win on his own merits, it's that he's literally up against a cult leader so it's kind of a "all hands on deck" situation.

You're dodging the question and also drifting beyond the scope of the discussion. The subject is the value of a major party vote vs. a third party vote. I'm simply presenting the argument as to why third partiers see things differently and why they cannot be swayed by "you're throwing your vote away" messaging.

They would sooner flush their ballot down the toilet literally than use it to sign off on the major parties retaining power.

A vote for Biden is a vote for the status quo, it may not be as immediate as another Trump term, but it still leads to life getting worse for everyone. So, as slim as it is, I'll still try reaching for a candidate that might lead to a better future like Bernie or AOC.

It's not a slim chance. It's not even a 0 chance. It's a negative chance because it WONT happen and it instead helps out something FAR worse.

But also, if you vote for Trump you are supporting Project 2025, which is unacceptable and will be the end of our democracy.

Yep. A third candidate that's better than both would be great, if said person had a huge shot at winning.

But as is, it's basically well choosing a stable job over a very costly lottery ticket that the chances of winning are beyond slim. Only stakes are much higher than merely losing.

And sometimes the best way for improvement is taking the small steps.

Not only that, but we saw with the 2020 election that fucking Gary Johnson was the reason Clinton lost and we had round 1 of Trump.

All third party candidates should drop out and support Biden. We cannot have razor-thin margins.

Sure and any of you passed at how Covid turned out, well even with Hilary or it happening in the first year of the 2010s or 2000s would have been more minimal to being something that happened within one year VS bring a long running issue.

And I believe that regardless of voting preferences in 2016, Covid being a problem for anyone outside the 1% is a full-blown fact proving that sometimes you have to play ball to win at life.

Or to put it another way, turning the other cheek didn't work out well for Peter Parker.

At the very least, I'd hate to see people abstain from voting only to later complain about another Trump term.

Because yeah, I'd argue one reason why many people try very hard to promote inclusiveness is due to 2016's outcome.

I'm not sure if you're talking the Pro-3rd party votes or not, but at the very least if the choice came down to Republicans, not sure.

Nixon for example is probably the second worst in vein of Trump, but his choice to let things go demonstrated that he does care about the country. At the very least, a Republican would need to be someone who cares about friends, family and such more than say hating any foreigner.

In 2020, Biden actually won the Electorlal College BECAUSE of a third-party candidate, who hurt Trump. Specifically, Libertarian candidate Jo Jorgensen:

https://thehill.com/opinion/campaign/525321-does-joe-biden-owe-his-win-to-jo-jorgensen/amp/

If Jo Jorgensen did not run, then Trump likely would have won the Electoral College, despite losing the popular vote by over six million.
