1 - Yoga is good for this.
2 - Not personally, no. 3 - Yoga is good for this, also. Really, any exercise will help as long as you're putting enough time and effort into it. 4 - Not that, specifically. At the beginner level you focus on inhaling and exhaling slowly and steadily, at the medium level you add holding your inhaled breath, and at the difficult level, you also add sustaining your exhaled breath. This last one is actually the most difficult, keeping your lungs empty for an extended period. When I exercise I still inappropriately hold my breathresistance training - you should inhale/exhale along with the exercise (not sure of wording but exhale on exert, inhale on release, I think...). cardio - I can't imagine holding my breath for cardio, that's not what you mean is it? it requires a bench and barbell or dumbells, but the exercise Pullovers is supposed to increase lung capacity by stretching and increasing the size of the ribcage (though I wonder if maybe that's obsolete information and not really true) Lokarin posted...
