that really sucks.

I remember seeing recent stuff about her being "out of it", and I guess this helps explain things.

How common is dementia for a 59 year old? I don't think I've ever heard of anyone under 70 having it.

Bruce Willis isn't 70 yet and has the same type of dementia.

As stated in the article, this particular type usually manifests in the 50s and 60s.

It's scary how fast mental illness can take people away but not really take them away. Wendy was a fixture just a few years ago.

I'm not sure if this means anything, but it's reported that it's alcohol induced dementia.

isnt this what Bruce Willis has damn

Bruce Willis was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia, aka FTD, and had to retire from acting. Before his family publicly shared his diagnosis in 2023, they revealed in March 2022 that he had to step away from Hollywood because he was experiencing a disorder called aphasia.

I think there was a moment a while back where she was staring blankly into to camera one point on her show, then it came out she was diagnosed with aphasia this was like 1 or 2 years ago iirc

A guy I work with has a wife with alcohol induced dementia, and she's in her mid-fifties. It's a sad thing.

Friends who have gone to see him have said he's pretty much gone now. Small moments of recognition, but the Bruce Willis we've all seen in the movies, shows, and interviews is dead and what's left behind is a shell. Very sad.

This is why my wife has explicit instructions to take me to a place that allows euthanasia if I ever catch a disease like this. I'm not even going to lie: this is the number one thing in life that scares me.

I know I'm going to die, but I want to die with my sense of self intact, you know? Kill me if I ever get to that point.

Same here. There are very specific circumstances in which I wouldn't want to live (as it can hardly be called living at that point) and this is one of them. No sense in being a burden to loved ones when I'm not even aware I'm being one.

That really bums me out. My roommate and I used to watch the FUCK out of Wendy every day before work (we both worked late shifts), watching WW with her is one of my fondest memories. We would always say "How YOU doin?!" with her inunison almost on autopilot lol.

Thanks for the years of entertainment Wendy, and I hope her remaining time is as comfortable as she can possibly be.
