I also explained the MZero read had to so with the timing of it. Maybe mzero is town if edumey is a wolf tho as this comes off white knighty

Fd attacking ulti doesn't mean I don't tr him. In fact it made me tr him. So building bridges with town reads is winning mafia.

Did a reread of the day before going to bed, and I'm feeling worse off about Chris. Not sure how much is just Chris poking and prodding, versus actual beliefs.

I'm feeling uneasy about Chris, too. But I also have a natural paranoia about good players being scum. Han, Lea, and Chris tend to be on the opposing end of that irrational fear >_>

But Chris in particular is a tough nut to crack. You never know when he's deliberately saying weird things as Town just to see who takes the bait. I feel like Scum Chris doesn't make himself this obvious early on unless it's a deliberate sacrifice like in Star Trek (which is a much harder stunt to pull off here given the nature of the game).

So I'm not totally sold on Chris being scum just yet. I am, however, keeping a close eye on him.

Oh and Isquen I am flattered. But like my vote. My date choice wont come easily or early

Anyway i am just firing from the hip this game, giving as many opinions as I can with the caveat that hey its day one. This game I think is less about enforcing will and more about thinking over legacies and figuring out who is manipulating things with the night kills etc.

I want to say I do agree with your initial tactics explanation, Chris.
But I also agree that you asking to date FD seemed to run counter to those page 1 posts.

Well, let me be more clear.

I just did that to distract FD who was fuming tbh. I think this is clear if you read in context. I also townread FD's frustration, so if he had accepted I'd be dating a town read and if something drastic changed I could just break up.

I thought it was fine. Rigidly sticking to rules isn't my style.

Havent gotten to the end yet. Trying to read everything including Lopens posts is not helping my headache.

Chris lends validation to Lopen saying people talking about the setup are potentially scummy, but CONVENIENTLY gives himself a pass for doing so.

I really have to draw attention to this. I just don't buy town Edumey expects town Chris to go "Boy I sure am scummy for being someone who did this." I feel like this is the type of thing that scum think is really damning but... it makes no sense at all? lol.

Dumey, i don't think it's particularly remarkable or scummy when player A says, this sentiment expressed by some players is scummy and player B within that group replies "yes i can see why you think that and i don't disagree, not me though."

It's obviously not winning any logic awards but it's not inherently scummy imo

Never said you would suspect yourself. Lopen's original argument was a bad one. He came in swinging with his pregame gimmick that he thought of. Then he said everyone talking about the setup in a game with new rules looked suspicious, because scum would jump at the opportunity to "sound smart." You know this is bull. Players of any alignment will comment on the rules of the game, and we get involved in meta conversations about strategy early ALL the time when there is little else to talk about. How many games have there been where town gets involved in Miller/No Lynch conversations early because they don't have any player reads yet and just need to get people talking.

So when Sir Chris, widely respected by the community comes in and says, "oh yeah you've got a point Lopen, but it doesn't apply to me lol," it's completely toothless. If you can just handwave it away for player meta, then so can anyone else. I've had multiple games where people get on my case for talking about game meta stuff early. I remember specifically once where Lopen got on my case for having a Miller conversation with Kirby in the first couple pages of the game. This has all happened before in history. It's not alignment indicative at all.

So when I see you post the way that you did to not only cover your own arse, but also immediately use process of elimination to remove FD and Kirby and only look at me, it makes me think of your motivation. Why would you back up a bad argument to put focus on me? Reading the rest of your posts and seeing you take what looks to me like clear attempts to buddy up to several other players, it makes sense in that context. I don't think you really put much stock in Lopen's argument. You're just befriending him from a strategical standpoint, which I have to question whether that's town or scum behavior.

I never said you were supposed to find yourself scummy. That's a ridiculous assertion, and not at all the point of what I said. I said that you gave validation to Lopen's argument, but then casually discarded three of the four suspects that Lopen gave. You because self-claimed player meta. FD because you're building a bridge with him. Kirby because he complimented you. Two of these three aren't even relevant to Lopen's suspicion in the first place, and your reason for defending yourself could be applied to literally anyone else, including me! If Lopen's suspicion on you can be handwaved so simply, then it's not really an argument worth backing, is it?

I felt like Ulti was pulling me in to the conversation so i can see why you read it that way.

Meh, maybe it's just a difference in taking accountability. But I'm thinking of an example like when someone is accused of having a bad voting record. You can say, "Yeah we should look at people's bad votes, but mine are totally okay :):):)" or you can say, "Yeah, we should look at people's bad votes, and I acknowledge that mine look bad too." The latter is a stronger argument, because it supports the premise. The former is just weasely.

Hopefully my previous post made this more clear, but I wasn't JUST looking at Chris validating Lopen's bad argument, but instead trying to make sense of his motivation in doing so. I established multiple attempts at trying to build bridges with players, even when the underlying logic felt a little off to me as an observer.

I will say I have in my notes specifically that I thought FD and Ulti's spat was probably not scum theater. So I was looking at Sultan with minor interest on this as well.

The logic is fine.

Let's say there is a wagon day 1. It is a wolf. I vote the town who dies n1 on say 6/5 wagons. It is not odd that I think one of my fellow voters is scum. It isn't weird at all. It's just agreeing with the logic that yeah maybe someone who did the thing I did could have a wolfy reason.

Seems straight forward to me.
