Do you have any memory of your initial future life once you go back? I'd be 12, would my cognitive ability/emotional maturity revert back to that?

I'd take the years if it was going back in time and I could use my knowledge of the future to avoid making the same mistakes/make a fuckton of money.

Wondering about this because otherwise you're bound to make the same choices in life to lead to your life now.

I would take school more seriously and get to where I am sooner, spend more time with my parents and treat them better, and I would do everything in my power that my dad doesn't die from cancer and he lives longer. Even if it means I change careers and become a neurosurgeon and save my dad myself.

Otherwise, 20 million.

if it was back to my body, 20 years back, with my memories intact of the following 20 years, then that.

I could live more healthily, adding years to my life; and I could use that info to make a lot more money, too.

if it was just going 20 years into the past with my current body, then I'll just take the money.

Unless you were in a particularly terrible situation 20 years ago, the time is almost always going to be better. As others have said; just write down everything regarding stuff like Crypto and such and invest when it's in its infancy and become a billionaire or at least a multi millionaire, and use the extra time to improve yourself in other fronts. Lord knows I'd give up 20 Million guaranteed to fix the mistakes I made through middle and high school.

Id imagine you couldnt take anything written with you, so while you could benefit from knowledge of the future, I dont think youd magically remember all sporting events results or lottery numbers or whatever.

You would have no need to remember any of that. Just buy $1000 of Bitcoin in 2010 and sell it when it hits $10,000 per coin.

Well you'd go back to 2004, which gives you 6 years to come up with the money.

There's a time when I would have taken the years. I'll admit, there are a lot of things I would do differently if I could start over from 13.

But I also like where I am now, and I believe in myself to keep moving forward in a positive way. There are also some very important people in my life that I would probably never be able to find again if I went back.

So...I'll take the money~

'money'

This ever-folding virus changed my views on time travel. I'm so used to keeping spare masks in my glove box or looking around when someone coughs, going back to any time before that would be alien to me.

Among other things. Even playing Starfield the other day I was reminded when folks used to joke about buying stock in Microsoft. Heh heh, you have enough to buy a Dell now, huh huh huh. From what I'm remember, Amazon started in a @%# garage. Buy stocks, kids. Seriously..

I think most of the people choosing money might be forgetting that going back in time 20 years means de-aging 20 years. Like, money isn't as valuable as more life, is it? Especially since you could easily make bank by memorizing lottery numbers or investing in Bitcoin or something. Everyone posting here is probably in their 30s or 40s. Youth is valuable and so is living longer.
