Kilowattrel is fine, but that was a very weak division for me. It just got one of my +s by default. That said, I do approve of Game Freak adding another sea bird, so now it doesn't always have to be Wingull everywhere every time.

Yep, I didn't expect Kilowattrel to do that well. It's a Gen 9 Pokemon, and Gen 9 hasn't fared too well in this contest so far.

I mean you might just be right, I just didn't. Mimikyus's popularity is wellknown though. No one actually votes due to generations, gen 1 has more reps in the most popular group than any other gen, but other gens have things there too, like Mimikyu.

I think Kilowattrel is one of those everyone knows hes cool af people just dont talk about it mons

I mean I don't think anyone is voting specifically because of Gen 1, but there are definitely people voting who have not played most or all of the later generations and tend to give more votes to the mons they recognized.

While that's definitely also a factor in play, Mimikyu should well known by everyone by now. Design is usually the most deciding factor when we rank things after all.

I feel like this is less true than I'd expect, I see a lot of comments mentioning battle worth or putting down NFE's. I think it's the most common deciding factor, just less universally so than I would've guessed.

I mostly rank based on design, but if something gets really fun moves or is totally unremarkable in battle, that influences it a fair bit. I don't really care whether it's actually good or it sucks, though.

For the record, monotype isn't inherently bad. It's when you've dedicated an entire generation to monotypes (Gen VIII), or you make a Pokemon that has nothing to set it apart from countless other, BETTER monotypes, that I have a problem with.

I tend to like when typings are relatively different. Stuff like bug flying annoy me more than it should but if it's something weird ish like a toxicroak or a joltik I do tend to like it more

Yeah these fakeass names don't really hold up to real, proper Pokemon names like Seel and Golem and Sandslash

Hard to compare directly. At the time the franchise wasn't as well defined and they had no idea they'd be making as many. In fact they planned to much less!

I still want a Flamigo/Seel deathmatch

Flamigo is a play on the words flamingo and amigo, Seel is just the word seal with a letter changed

Flamigo is the best Pokemon name of all time

Mr. Rime is actually a good name though. I was unfamiliar with the word "rime" before the Pokemon existed, but it's perfect for an Ice type Mr. Mime evolution.

This Flamigo slander cannot stand!!

Feraligatr is the worst name imo because they refused to fix it after expanding the character limit

Dud of the Day: Gouging Fire
Zamazenta only did -12 worse than Zacian, so his elimination is hardly surprising. Gouging Fire, on the other hand, did -96 worse than Entei. Yeouch. People taking a pretty firm stand that Gouging Fire is just a retread, I guess.

Hydreigon and Zebstrika were one ranking apart when we ranked gen V and even here so maybe divisions were somewhat equal despite what we all said.

Needle Arm ended with the right eliminations, thankfully. Flutter Mane and Rillaboom should not have received as many minuses as they did, given that Hattrem and Gulpin should've been easy targets.
