I pay $23 for what is basically a travel-sized toothpaste tube every month or so.

I spend 100+ on vinyl records every month, when I could just stream them in hi res.

Does that count?

Fast food, I guess. Usually about once a week.

I guess I'm also on my third house in eleven years, if that counts as "regularly."

Video games

Depends on the game, but dollar for dollar videogames are one of the best values for entertainment. $60 for 100+ hours in TotK? 100 hours worth of movies in theaters would cost a hell of a lot more.

Groceries.

Not a joke answer. I go months and months never spending any money except required living expenses like utilities, cable/internet (I consider this an essential home expense), water/garbage, and then food and gas for my vehicle.

I live quite cheaply and out of these bills food is my highest regular bill. I havent eaten out since 2017 and all my meals come from my kitchen so this bill is 100% just what I spend at the grocery store.

I do think nerd bling is cool but I just have so many issues with it.

Like, I'm super into Mega Man, and to me it should be no brainer that such fans would like to have a collection of figures of every Mega Man--that is, Mega Man, X, Cyber-Elf X, Mega Man Model X, Trigger, .exe, Geo Stellar and Fully Charged Mega Man.

Now, I get that not all of those were equally popular, but what really bothers me is that you can find figures of each of those, but they don't go together.

Like, Trigger might be five inches tall and made with one brand of paint, while X might be three inches tall and made with another brand of paint that clashes with it. And then Exe might be twelve inches tall and at a completely different level of detail.

And I just... can't... do it.

I'm subscribed to a subscription for Dice Envy, a maker of TTRPG dice sets. $50 a month and I get two full sets of dice: a 10-piece polymer set, and a premium set that varies in size and material (often metal, but I've also received sets made of wood, stone, glass, and even silicone). Been subscribed since they started offering the service in 2020, only missing a couple months when I underbudgeted for other things and had to pause.

It's a pretty expensive hobby to collect these dice; I'm at close to 100 full sets right now (including sets I've purchased from other manufacturers), but it brings me a little bit of joy every month and it's fun to show them off to other members of my group or online. Also, some of the premium sets I get end up being sold on their website a few months later for FAR more than the cost of the subscription itself, so it's not like I'm being ripped off or anything here; a couple have even retailed for up to $100 due to the materials involved.

For example, I received this set a few months ago, and it sells on its own for $80: https://diceenvy.com/products/shiver-stone-dice

So, in theory, if I keep them in good condition they could be a nice little nest egg if I should ever fall out of the hobby, or something cool to pass down to somebody who wants to get started.

Crystals. I've spent an awful lot of money on what are essentially just colourful, shiny rocks. My dresser is covered in them, and I have bags of raw stones I still have to polish. Most of the price is the shipping cost because they're heavy.

Same. Except the house part. But most people use the equity to trade up into a better home. Usual stay is 5-6 years per house until satisfaction so being on your third in eleven years isnt that unusual.

That strategy isn't all it's cracked up to be, really, because you lose a crazy amount of money on every closing. In our case, we just kept needing to move. Needed a bigger house because we had kids. Got a new job in a new city.
