Wishing you the best on your intermittent fasting journey! I also practice it, as I really enjoy eating. Postponing when I eat helps me manage my intake. However, its important to remember that many studies suggest the weight loss from intermittent fasting may not be due to delaying food consumption. Because of that I let me self have a nibble here and there some times. Note I am not suggesting you should do this in your personal journey. Do what works well for you.

Oh yeah. Definetly just a way for me to keep my calories in check while still eating what I want mostly. Try to stay strict not for the "benefits", but to keep myself accountable and consistent.
This reminds me I should probably start using my fasting tracker app again, but think I like just doing the 12pm to 8pm window even if I stopped eating at 6pm or earlier or break my fast later than 12pm.

Remember to buy clothes that fit you as you are losing weight. This can greatly improve your appearance. I understand that things can be expensive, so I typically shop at places like Walmart and Roses, which is similar to a cheaper version of TJ Maxx. Since I know I am continuing to lose weight, I tend to buy most of my clothes there.

However, I did manage to purchase two suits on sale from Macy's. They were originally priced at $400 each, but I got them on sale for $95. Normally, this would be a bit pricey for me, but I had an important meeting coming up and needed to look great. I laid out my suit the night before the meeting, eager to make a good impression. However, when I tried it on the next day, it was way too big for me. I thought to myself, "Oh crap!" So then I knew that I had to be like Barny and Suit Up.

yeah i do a lot of clothes shopping at Walmart, Ross, Marshall's, and thrift stores. i wanted to lose a bit more weight before i started assembling my business casual wardrobe, but with the recent opening of applications for the local farmers market i want to sell my mini cheesecakes at and the deadline being May 12th, i think i'm gonna have to go ahead and splurge on some long sleeve button-up shirts and suit vests. i have a couple nice pairs of jeans i'm planning to pair those with, so i won't have to buy those at least. and I have some ties that i inherited from my grandfather, but i might look for some newer ones too. and i want to get a pair of nicer boots, probably Chelsea boots. i'm thinking of checking out Kohl's. that place is usually a bit too expensive for my budget, but I don't want to go cheap on this stuff. and i'm pretty sure i'll be able to write it all off as a business expense lol, so there is that.

Roses I know use to have shirts and tie in box for ten dollars. Yesterday I got 2 shirts and 2 shorts for 18 dollars. Cheaper than Goodwill and the Thrift store. Richer people have pushed the prices of stuff up at thrift stores like made. Like they did with tiny houses and the chicken.

sounds awesome, but unfortunately it looks like there are no Roses in my state. oh well.

anyway, just did my daily morning weigh-in, and it's 199.2! even lower than i was hoping it would be. i did my workout yesterday, got a lot of walking in, and ate pretty light, just had some leftover chicken and broccoli fettuccine alfredo for breakfast, some frozen grapes and a small box of Cracker Jacks for a snack, and a chicken and grain and veggie bowl for dinner. feels good being on a consistent downward trend again.

I'm jealous of that pace and that weather.

It is now sweltering in the South. Rode this morning and had to keep riding just to stay kind of cool. Went to the doctor yesterday and my labs were excellent. This time in January I had high liver enzymes and my cholesterol and blood pressure were bad. Now blood pressure is 128/72 (post-exercise, pulse was high I kinda cheated) and every other number is within the good to excellent range.

Reduction of alcohol, steady cardio and weights along with Huel meal replacements really helped me. Also lost 10 pounds in those three months and there's a lot of progress to be had.

wow, 198.2 this morning. i was not expecting that. that's down a full pound from yesterday. i treated myself to a reward meal yesterday morning that was a giant fried egg sandwich on a big deli counter onion bagel, piled high with bacon and cheese and hashbrowns. and i snacked on some cheez-its and had some milk creme chocolate bars. but i did eat light for dinner, just had some sushi that we got from the pick-your-own foodbank me and my mom go to on Thursdays. so i guess things balanced out.

Ive been consistently within the 196-200 pound range lately. Its challenging to admit, but my family dynamics have been impacting my weight loss journey. My sister is currently going through a tough period, and as a result, shes practically moved in with me. Additionally, my parents visit every Wednesday-Sunday due to it. I want to clarify that Im not bothered by their presence; my home Casa CJ is always welcoming to them whenever they need it. However, this has inadvertently caused my weight loss efforts to stall. Moreover, my mom suggests that I should stop focusing on losing weight and questions the necessity of my twice-daily workouts. With all the serious issues my family is facing at the moment, Im at a crossroads and unsure about the next steps for my health goals.

i can relate with family issues getting in the way of your personal goals, not just health and fitness goals, but in general. i'll just say that it can be very stressful and irritating sometimes being a single man in his late 30s who still lives with his parents and doesn't have much of a social life. my best advice is to just ignore what they think and focus on doing what you believe is best for you. and be firm with setting boundaries.

lol well actually, that's what i already do literally every time. i try to have the same conditions every time i weigh myself, so it's almost always in the morning around 8-8:30, after i've had my cup of coffee and haven't eaten or drank anything else, and directly after moving my bowels. try to have the same or similar clothing on as well, usually a t-shirt and either mesh shorts or joggers depending on the weather.

i would say eating healthy isn't just about a number on a scale, and even if that number has been stalling, there are many many other reasons to eat healthy, and overall continuing to eat healthy regardless of if your weight loss is going like you want it to go or not will have numerous positives effects on your health. and going back to eating like shit will, well, in all likelihood make you feel like shit. so i think you should keep it up.

Posted this on a diabetes group on FB so thought I'd share here as well.

Not directly diabetes related but a friendly reminder to those who are trying to lose weight and look at the scale and see not much progress or a little weight gain.

It takes about an extra 3500- 4000 calories to gain a lb. of fat. This is above and beyond your daily caloric expenditure.

To put that into perspective, thats approximately a large pizza with multiple toppings.

So if you've adopted a healthy lifestyle, are exercising and practicing portion control, most likely any weight gain or slow progress is due to water weight or storages of glycogen in the muscle tissues. Not fat.

Also some medications can cause water retention and of course hormones can also play a part. So don't beat yourself up, and you don't need to check the scale everyday.
A better indicator of your health improvement is your energy and sense of well being.

Keep exercising and eating well, and don't give up!

I am going to mt heart doctor on May 8th and asked for a medication change. I think this on is keeping my heart rate low thus stopping me from losing weight I gained over 10 pounds this month.

So I got my body scanned it wasn't bad.

Despite a slight increase in weight from 192 to 194 pounds, Ive seen significant improvements in body composition. This month, Ive reduced my fat mass from 71 to 61 pounds. My visceral fat level has also decreased from 16 to 13, and Im my overall body fat percentage has dropped from 37% to 31%. Like I know in my head that his is great. But I really want to see those scale numbers drop. I know I know what I pointed out is so much more inporent overall.

I admit I was worried when I saw the scale go up, and I even considered stopping my medication because I thought I wasn't making progress. However, these results are actually really encouraging, even with that brief jump into the 200s.

Anywho. As a celebration I am going to have some fried catfish tonight. However frying in the air frier LOL

I may have to ghost from the boards soon (not willingly), but before that possibility becomes reality, I want to express my gratitude to everyone. Your collective efforts have been outstanding. Your support has been a tremendous source of motivation for me in my weight loss journey. Losing weight is a challenging endeavor, yet the guidance, advice, and shared stories of your own gainz and losses have inspired me to persevere and set new objectives. I don't want to sound like a teacher, or a sensei or something like that, but I am proud of the effort of everyone who has ever posted in these topics.

Should circumstances prevent my return, know that my weight stands at 189 well, really 190 but Im determined to break into the 180 club before I go. This past month, the scale hasnt shown significant movement, but Ive shed over 10 pounds of fat and built 4 pounds of muscle. Kudos to each of you for the dedication and hard work youve invested.
