Are you kidding me everyone seems to hate white people now. I can't tell if it's now or if it's always been that way and the internet just made it more prevalent.

I'm white and haven't experienced racism but then again I rarely see any people of other races in my daily life.

It's this simple, and yet certain types seem to have trouble with this concept.

Racism towards white people absolutely can be, and is, a thing. However, even more so than most similar accusations, it's horrifically overused. A movie having a non-white main character is not racism towards whites. Other cultures being allowed to maintain their practices (as long as we're not talking human rights violations like FGM) is not racism towards whites. Etc.

Of course that's possible, in a society where whites are a downtrodden minority.

But in a society dominated by whites and infected with white racism vs. out-groups, it's not possible for anti-white bigotry by some members of out-groups to be the same thing as the white racism vs. out-groups.

"Racism" has been redefined (by some) as a systemic prejudicial practices, policies and attitudes based around race. As such no, white people generally cannot experience racism.

They can, however, experience prejudice based on their race. This is also a definition of racism (as far as I know it hasn't officially been changed to the former?)

But, at the end of the day, arguing the definition is just a lame way of dismissing whatever the original point being made is.

I find you can tell a lot about somebody if they struggle to differentiate racism, which can happen to anybody, from systematic racism

Of course you can. Racism is thinking that someone of a different or mixed ethnicity is inferior or bad and doesn't deserve to be treated well. There's different levels to it for sure, but racism is very much a people problem. To think otherwise is just as ridiculous as thinking only men can be sexist.

White people aren't victims of systemic racism in America or anywhere in Europe. East Asians aren't vicitms of systemic racism in Japan.

Race doesn't actually exist, obviously, but we give it value, and thus there is racism.

in the days of apartheid whites were the dominant race in South Africa despite being a minority

Basically it was alleged she racially abused someone and everyone in the country spent a day speculating on what she said only to find she called someone a dumb white bastard and the whole country went phew that's not racist, only a race based insult.

Who here has specifically claimed you can't be racist to white people? If they did, and weren't talking about systematic racism, then yes you can dismiss them, but I'd like to know who or what you're referring to.
