Game has been out for a month and a half and it fucking slaps. Yes, it's buggy. Yes, it's had server issues for the first two weeks of launch.

But my god is it great when you are running 4 people on discord. It's already a strong contender for me for goty.

I can attest that it's a fun game

I've been waiting to recommend it to people because crossplay friend requests don't work yet, and there are some game crashing bugs they're still working out

But when it works it really works. Running higher difficulty levels with my group in discord and lower difficulties with randoms has given me two types of experiences that I like

If Starship Troopers went above your head and you need something that aims lower, then this is the game for you.

The actual game is really good though.

Yeah that's the biggest issue. I think Helldivers 1 maxed out at like 40k players and this game launched with half a million so I understand the issue, but they've been very transparent with what is going on and are trying to fix everything.

Either way the game is so fun.

Absolutely ridiculously good game that I haven't spent nearly enough time with because this year won't stop flinging RPGs at me.

Gameplay, theming, music, sound etc are all top notch with sooooo many awesome little touches. Might also be one of the best executed "live service" games ever, too. (I use quotes here because it feels wrong to associate this game with a model that's almost garbage by definition at this point, but they're absolutely nailing it while also managing to keep everything free beyond the initial purchase. People are only spending money here because they legit feel they didn't pay enough for how much fun they're having, which is a crazy great place for a game/team to be.)

Probably not- I'm going to guess you just need to use more & better stratagems. Difficulty varies greatly depending on how well you remember to use them frequently. Primary weapons and grenades are generally very weak, and it's a brain shift to get used to that.

You can't easily blast yourself straight through the difficulty settings unless you're lucky- some very useful stratagems are locked behind level progress and currency unlocks. It is what it is

Also, challenging/level 4 is where you start seeing some bigger/tougher enemies, so somebody needs to bring something specific that can deal with them

Overall, play at your own pace and learn how things work, and it'll get easier, through skill and unlocks
