By the time the returner took a knee guys were already colliding at full speed. I also think it has potential to make kickoffs even more fun than before touchbacks became so common. It's practically the first play from scrimmage now, and I think it will leave more room for designed plays on kickoffs. And since it's safer teams might be more willing to use starters on special teams.
