I mean, it depends on how you die.
But that is a good write up.

I lost double digit family members before I went to my first wedding.
Most of those deaths were in my teens.
The first wedding was into 20's.

My mother's death was when I was about 10.

Before then my Aunt, by marriage was about a month or so before

Both of my parents died before both of their parents, respectively.

My father within a week of his mother.

Even the funeral directors were shocked.

I've seen both my Mum and Father-in-law go through palliative care and yeah the nurses said something similar. They mentioned the last senses to go are sound and touch so there's a confirm hearing a familiar song and having their hand held by loved ones.

Dunno if it's any less terrifying though. The thought of my body and senses gradually shutting down as my family grieves around me doesn't sound peaceful at all to me even though logically I know the brain isn't going to be the same in those moments.
