I don't think you can pretend to represent the values of your voter base and then turn around and say their personal affairs shouldn't be the business of voters. That's a reflection of your values.

Politicians should be held to a high moral standard. Ive seen teachers lose their jobs because they have affairs or have spoken about prior illegal activities or even done something totally legal but which some parents find unsavoury. Why shouldnt politicians be held to the same standard?

I think politicians should stop sounding off about 'family values' first.

IIRC, the issue with the Lewinsky affair wasn't that he was getting his dick wet
it was that he lied under oath about it.

doesn't seem to often have too much of a bearing on their effectiveness in office, except maybe if a scandal comes out of it

what if they are constantly harping about family values and morals, you still wouldn't care?

Of course they do. Politicians are constantly trying to dictate morality.

It was a little of both, really, but the lying under oath part was why Clinton got impeached. But he'd had rumors of tons of affairs before he was even elected, so it was no surprise that he'd been caught-- I think he should have just admitted it and saved us all the headache of that media blitz.

Most? No. Compared to Republicans though, it's not even remotely close. Pugs live to try and dictate morality, (while generally being complete hypocrites about it).

Using the office of the president to get laid is definitely the peoples business. I don't think it matters in Congress though

A politicians life is none of my business unless of course they're a hypocritical asswipe who preaches one thing while doing another, or they're breaking the law.

Then it deserves to be called out.

Yes, unless it's in direct contradiction to their public stances. I don't give a shit if some random Dem gets some side action, or if a Republican is caught causing excessive pollution, but if a family values Republican is caught having an affair or a supposedly green-friendly Dem is shown to have an enormous carbon footprint, fuck 'em.
