Yeah, thats my answer too.

Most people are fine with it, but a few will either accuse me of being a massive slut or simply be unable to comprehend that I stopped caring about keeping track about 17 years ago.

Yeah most in their 40s - 60s. Some of them were really hot, others not so much. Only ever fell for two of them but ended up heart broken both times. Anyone can ask me anything I'm not shy.

Honestly thats the truth. It would take a while to go back to my teenage years and backtrack all the way to my late thirties. Thats not typically a star people have offhand and ready to go like a birthday

My number is low, so maybe it's a different mindset, but I feel like I'd still keep track, even if my number was high. Not as a bragging thing, but just so I'd know.

I was told on a date my number was "unusual" as it was only 3 when I was 28. There was no need for it, she asked, I answered, and got that response. I guess it was her attempt at "banter".

I also wouldn't have judged her number whatever it was. Dating is fucking hard these days

There's nothing wrong with this question because you probably should know who/what type of people and how many people they've been involved with. So they have crazy exes. Should know about potential std risks. And also what's their tendency to hop into new relationships if things don't work out.

But she made it seem like something I sort of had to explain, sorta hinted it was maybe a red flag ya know. I guess it was the way she said "unusual".

It just came across very unnecessary for someone who clearly considered themselves open minded. Hard to explain without being a fly on the wall for the conversation. Basically she made me insecure about something I wasn't before, for no reason. I think she also must have felt I was proud of it just because I answered without any further explanation.

I get it. I was just responding to the other user who said you should be proud.

I'd generally suspect that to be a loaded question. Basically the other person has an arbitrary number set in their mind as the acceptable amount and any deviation from that, higher or lower, is going to invite trouble.
