Doom 3 sucked on toast. Constantly spawning enemies behind you when your frozen in place to get a free hit on you isn't scary. It's just annoying and bad game design.

I played DOOM3 way after the fact, in like 2020 and I really enjoyed it. It's kinda like a proto Dead Space

Moving in the dark with a flashlight wasn't a bad idea, at least not on paper, but in practice it got very repetitive. Then you got out of that part and into hell proper, and the combat felt lackluster compared to other FPS games.

The first two games and the more recent reboots are all better.

Yes, but that doesn't make it the best game. The other games are way more fun to play. Doom 3 is still good though.

as a horror game it fails by being so predictable you basically know exactly where the spawn ins and monster closets are going to be after just an hour or two of playing. as a shooter it fails because all the guns feel like dogshit. literally every other doom is better
