In the early 2010s I created an avatars user script which turned into a browser extension which results in me getting pissed off after two users were arguing with me over PM and I had enough and lashed out at one of them unfairly updating the extension's backend to inject hate speech into the extensions settings. As a result, I was banned for 6 months, I willingly shut the browser extension was shut down and demand lead to the feature being added to the site. At the end of its life over 2000 people had avatars and even more were using certain other features of the extension such as rotating signatures and quick account switching. Also at the end both Devin and Allen used it (or people exploited the REST API and injected avatars into their avatars I don't know). Also at one point I captured everyone's IP addresses and did not do anything with them. Very fun stuff.
