Along with the release there will also be a patch with a lot of fixes and updates which new cutscenes among a lot of stuff. Sounds good. Probably wouldve reviewed sliiightly better with these updates from the get go.

Too little, too late. I loved FF16 and now I don't even remember the basic controls anymore. Rebirth destroyed any chance of FF16 DLC being relevant.

The comments were to assure people that they could buy it day 1 and not regret missing out on the complete game. Then instead of a day 1 patch it gets a month 10 patch. And they wonder why people stop buying their games on day 1.

They've said it won't but I find that hard to believe just based on the general premise of this DLC, plus the main antagonist of the main game being part of the DLC and the little clip at the end of the trailer showing Clive with a new form

Wow they really buffed Bahamut's abilities.

Unfortunately they didn't implement my biggest wish, which is auto cooldown of abilities once out of combat. Also wasn't there rumors of changes to the attachments? Maybe what's attached isn't the full list.

Yeah the changes seem kinda nuts. It was a nice risk/reward ability that wasn't bad at all in Ultimaniac or against aggressive enemies since the dodge charged it so fast. I'm looking forward to the buffs to Ramuh's Eikonic Feat because damn was that the most disappointing Shotlock I've experienced in a Square Enix game.

Do the DLC, then NG+ with Leviathan abilities, and then Ultimaniac difficulty after you're done with Final Fantasy difficulty imo.

I used a few of them IIRC, depending on circumstance. Phoenix's, Shiva's and Titan's for sure. Mostly though I wanted that feature because I would use Phoenix to blitz passed the trash mobs I didn't want to fight, and having to wait 2 minutes or whatever it was to do it again was a huge PITA.

Also at times I would accidently stray out of the combat area, and the enemies would all be healed and I would be left having to do the fight again. Would make it more palatable if I didn't have to wait for cooldowns.

The equipment was the most egregious thing. Everything was the exact same, just higher stats. And only two stats at that (each offensive and defensive), one which (HP) didn't even matter because it was "upgraded" such a miniscule amount it may as well not have been there.

It was a complete game, at least in terms of story, but a lot of the gameplay felt half-assed and rushed. Like why even have items and chests? Apart from potions they mean literally nothing. I can get all the upgrade equipment I need through the story.

Agreed. I love the game for its high highs, but it has some terrible lows. At least quick complete update for quests will alleviate some of that. But 87 on Metacritic is the most accurate score for the game.

hmm...the later quests from XVI were pretty decent, but Rebirth's reward you with character interactions and they also try to mix things up a bit instead of always being to x and kill some monster....I mean it was still that, but a bit more creative.

Also 16 sold better than Rebirth and sales for DLC were tracking nicely according to Yoshida.

This. You have to force yourself to do those quests in both games, but the pay off in XVI is a lot better. I stopped playing Rebirth weeks ago after doing Stamp quest, now I can't find the motivation to go back lol

The one thing I will give Rebirth's side quests for is variety. You have the FFXVI-style green icon sidequests, but the intel - while Ubi Soft-esque - changes things up despite the repetition.

But the green side quests you get from the board are WAY better than the ones Rebirth because they really seem like they could part of the main story. Characters die and areas change from doing them.

16's sidequests would've been better if they weren't written like 14's sidequests. Overly wordy, drawn out fetch quests make sense for a MMO, but not a 1player action game.

Like, I wouldn't say any of them were awful, but I mostly just enjoyed how much I felt at home doing them as a FF14 player.

I beat the main part in the DLC. The Leviathan fight was harder than I expected on Final Fantasy difficulty. Like I have the platinum, did every Eikon fight on both NG and the NG+ difficulty, but I never died during an Eikon fight until Leviathan. Fun times, and nice music.

For example: complaints around weapons and armor being "just stats bonuses." This is true, but in nearly every classic JRPG that's exactly what it always was. You reach the latest town and you go to the weapon/armor shop and you buy everything because it's newer than what you have and thus better. MAYBE some secret endgame weapons had special effects, but in general that's how it always was. So when people say "the weapons are just stat upgrades" in regard to 16 not being a "real" JRPG I'm just left wondering how when that's exactly how nearly every other JRPG does it.

Witcher 3 spoiled us big time =( TBH I was fine with 10 hours or even 7. It seems theyre including the "bloody palace" area as part of those 10 hours of gameplay they advertised. Ill probably still buy it later tonight.
