Current Events > Well this is a first, got some of my clothes stolen at a laundromat today.

Was waiting in front of the washer machine and then I saw some women opened it (while it was rinsing) and started putting some of my clothes into her basket. I was so fucking confused so I told her "Mam, is there something wrong with the machine?" and she continued putting my wet clothes into her basket. I then asked "Mam, you realize that is my clothes right?" and that moment she started to bolt with her basket. I then got in front of her and told her to put back my shit while she was screaming "Someone help me!" and "Get off of me!". It was at that moment someone tackled me to the ground and I was trying to explain myself to him while he was wrestling with me until I mentioned that she was stealing my stuff did the guy go "oh fuck!". We both went outside but by then she got into her car (with some guy as the driver) and drove off. The other guy kept on apologizing to me and said "hey man, whatever is the difference I'll pay it. I fucked up." I told him it was okay because I might've done the same thing if I was in his position (from his point of view, it was a man trying to do something innapropriate to a women). Then the owner got involved and I did a police report on it and stuff (good thing there was security cameras as well).

I think the biggest takeaway from this experience was how nonchalant she was when she stole right in front of my eyes and I kept telling myself "no one is stealing from you. It's all a misunderstanding.". Call my naive and stupid, but now I'm definately going to be more wary about someone trying to steal from me from now on if it looks really obvious.

Damn dude, I was half expecting this to be a roll of some kind. That sucks, hope it gets sorted.

Oh wow, I thought this topic died lol.

I got a call today and apparently they caught the lady and I'm going to be going in to identify her from a lineup sometime this week. Supposedly, she's part of a huge robbery spree network in the city where I live and the police is trying to crack down on it. So yeah it looks like it's going to get sorted real soon lol.

Doubt it's only laundromats. They probably steal all over the place or something. Supposedly it's a huge problem in our city.

Not a bad plan actually. Low security risks. Hard to prove ownership. Just have a "yardsale" to move them. $5 a shirt adds up fast.

This is one of those ways that those tiny stores that are all supplied by "they fell off a truck" are, well, supplied.

It happened to me from time to time a while back. To which I never really cared since I figured they probably needed the clothes far more then someone that never felt like watching it.

Damn that sucks. Glad she got caught though. Though I'm glad I don't ever have to go to a laundromat.

So I just went this morning and while I can't go into too much detail, it was really anti-climatic. Came really early in the morning and I ended up waiting in the lobby for about an hour before they called me in. They have me sign some papers and the line up was just me looking at photos and identifying which one was the lady. I picked the right lady and then they asked me weird question like why I think the picture I picked was the right one (I guess it's protocol or something) and that was it. I was expecting a Brooklyn 99 Backstreet Boy scene lol.

Some people probably would not have followed thru with going down and identifying her. Good for you.
