It's not like the Japanese voices are authentic, either. They're overexaggerated to the point where people actually say that watching anime is actually a terrible way to learn Japanese.

Hyperdimension Neptunia is a great example of old sounding American women that just do NOT fit their roles at all. Noire especially. One of the worst dubs I've ever heard in my life.

Regardless of the quality, it's crazy to me that people actually play games heavily set in Japan with English dubs. There shouldn't even be an option for it in games like Sekiro or Yakuza. It makes no sense.

i kinda agree, but also i do think it legit helps some with accessibility, so i wont be anal about it

sub vs dub is dumb. if you aren't a Japanese speaker you have a bias for subs because you don't realize how cartoony/exaggerated Japanese voice acting can be dumb at times. Not saying dubs are always better, but the realize why it sounds off because you actually understand English and can detect the minor nuances better.

lackadaisy and that Hell show are PLAGUED by this shit. its insanely distracting and awful. idk why i get so hung up on voice acting but man. i wish i could just not hear it and eat it up like everyone else

Do you care about this for every game or just the weeb ones?

Resident Evil 4 is in Spain, Assassin's Creed is all over the planet, Age of Empires should be in twenty different languages...

re4 isnt a great example, cuz the only bilingual characters are the ones of means. the ganados all speak spanish like 95% of the time

no one is blind dub hating. im talking about a specific thing regarding dubs. if dubs were good id prefer them, like i do for yu yu hakusho and 4kids yugioh. stop being a silly lil guy

and I hate the whole "let's kill all english voice actors" comments I see so much when there's reels on social media about voice actors.

When those voice actors do Disney roles, Marvel / DC animated roles, etc., they dont overact themselves into a prolapse like they do for English translations of Japanese media.

Its kind of like how Hayden Christiansen is a good actor in anything besides Star Wars because George Lucas sucks as a director.

The only voices I dislike are the ones that are clearly trying to fake a high pitch "kawaii" voice, both sub and dub. My ears can't take it when they scream.

In general, American dubs put way too much emphasis on every fucking syllable and breath.

I'll always take a good dub over sub, though.

I prefer dubbed anime to subbed because Japanese voice acting drives me nuts. The men all sound intense to the point of constipation and the women are overly meek and timid. Except for the tsundere women who are just bitchy. Though in fairness that's kind of hard to avoid in any language.

Straight up FLCL should've set the modern standard for female dubbing
