Best Year in Gaming Best. Series. Ever. Got Villains? / Spring 2005
The only other contests I want to mentioned are 2008 and 2013. 2013 was mostly-destroyed by Draven and Pokemon, and Round 1 just kept going on, and on, and on (we do not need a round 1 with 81 fucking matches ever again) but had a few fun things like Vivi and Mega Man (of "lost to a fucking cube when Zero shared a poll with him" fame) succeeding in fighting off a Pokemon in a contest where Pokemon was killing everything left and right holy shit go Blue Bomber. I mostly use that Mega Man > Charizard matchup as justification to keep 2013 off this thing holy fuck I loved that match. 2008 in contrast just feels so forgettable. It had Snake leading Link for a while. And a bunch of weak Brawl characters. And. Uh. --- Born to lose, live to win! ... Copied to Clipboard!

Oh man, I forgot all the Brawl characters in 2008. I was more annoyed that L-Block's win in 2007 led to a flood of joke characters in 2008. I feel like it's really easy to forget about 2008 with 2007 also being a four-way contest and having more memorable moments.

Rivalry Rumble Series Villains Ironically, if you combined the Rivalry Rumble and Villains contest into one entity, it might have had a shot. You let the likes of Magus, Knuckles, etc., but without them acting as proxies for their heroes, and you have a much deeper roster for a half-sized tournament. --- Agent Triple Zero at your service! Rivalry Rumble Summer 2004 character contest Series I forgot series even happened. The other 3 were the first ones to come to mind. I kinda liked the villains contest - biggest problem was the small bracket, but even still it was unpredictable enough that no bracket was perfect.
