Start buying / ripping media (preferably to a file server / NAS so you can stream it across the network). It costs more up front, but it means you dont have a lifetime of that bullshit to deal with and eventually youll own everything you want to watch and not have to pay anyone anything, at which point it will wind up cheaper.
