Cash grab due to localisation issues. Story of Seasons is the actual Harvest Moon games. Rune Factory is made by the same people.and is Harvest Moon mixed with Secret of Mana type combat. Do not buy modern Harvest Moon.

Its only $5 for switch on the Walmart website.

I'm well aware about the whole Harvest Moon x Story of Seasons thing.
I already looked into the new Friends of Mineral Town but didn't really liked the graphics and "upgrades" from the original title, which was the best one I've played in the series, on my GBA.

I was looking for something fresher, that's when I stumbled upon wind of athos, I really liked it's presentation, but it seems something is lacking in this game, a soul maybe?

Is it a new Harvest Moon? Then no lol. The real team left the publisher and is making Story of Seasons now

And I didn't like the graphics for Friends of Mineral Town at first, either. But they grow on you. It's a great game. It's not as good as Animal Parade or Trio of Towns but you can easily sink three in-game years into it. I believe it's free on PSN if you have the catalog membership. Pioneers of Olive Town (and the DLC) is also free on there if you're looking for a more original title with better graphics. At launch there was a lot of lag problems with the game but I believe the developers acknowledged the issues and patched them.

Keep in mind one thing tho, I have hundreds of hours on Stardew Valley and I'd like to play something with a similar amount of substance.

Avoid RF5, the game is not that good. 4 and 3 are bangers though

I'm also a simp for harvestella. Fantastic game that no one played. It's what I would recommend.

Yeah I loved it on the 3ds as well. My wife actually played the shit out of it which surprised me

Has farming, house upgrades, a decent story, fun class system, dungeon crawling and regular staples like fishing and ore gathering. And the music is actually QUITE good

It's not super duper impressive, but I enjoyed my time with it and need to get back to it. I enjoyed it far more than Rune Factory 5.

Pioneers of Olive Town if you want something more modern.

My friend is a massive fan of the series and said Winds of Anthos was the first time since the HM/SoS division that Harvest Moon came out on top.

Can't personally confirm, but I trust his opinion and offer it here

See? I keep getting these mixed reviews, this game looks and feels like a great step in the right direction, but everyone else says it's crap.

I didnt care for it much. I like the characters a lot but the farming is too different from standard Harvest Moon. Its too realistic. You have to plant one crop at a time and you only get one yield in return because they want you to utilize the seed maker.

And each month is only 10 days.

My play style is more create a nice field of crops and nurture them and make a lot of gold while having a nice and organized looking field.

The fishing is also too slow and no mining system. Theres not enough to do.

It's personally one of my favorites. This one has a clear beginning middle and end, as you legitimately go through life. Get a wife, have a kid, watch the kid grow up, pass away as an old man. The farming is a lot more realistic, including needing to water twice a day and you can create your own seeds which is fun. It is definitely slower paced, and you can also sell your stuff directly to townsfolk which I personally like but others not so much.

It is enjoyable imo
