I mean he got booted off the easiest job in the world (literally just had to show up on set and be himself) because he was too difficult and unreliable to work with. I can't imagine anyone wants to work with him after that.

He always punched down. He just punched down on subjects we were OK with being punched down in a time when punch down humor wasnt seen as that big of a deal.

Like, to many, he was approaching GOAT status when he was doing punch down jokes and his subjects were poor, black, drug addicts.

This is facts and no one wants to have this conversation.

He didn't change tactics that much. He just changed his target.

Thats why ultimately a lot of the outrage in response even if it comes from a good place(and hes not helped the situation by doubling down) kinda has rung hollow to me.

That being said. He was more creative when he had the outlet of doing skits.

Can you show me where he dedicated entire blocks of full length Netflix specials to launching attacks like he has done on the LGBT+ community, then fumbled to misappropriate art as a shield for being openly bigoted and hostile? These are his genuine beliefs, airing his grudges, using his platform and power very irresponsibly to harm vulnerable members of the public and shape social attitudes.

You dont have a leg to stand on about this. Its not exactly a secret here that you dont support the trans community where you feel criticism of his open bigotry and hostility rings hollow. You should be more genuine to yourself and to us.

People are either really showing their age or displaying their favorism towards specific, marginalized groups. Back in his prime the bulk of his jokes were exclusively about race (mostly African Americans) and around every single aspect of their Americanized stereotypes ramped up to 11. Nowadays it's the same exact thing except replace race with sexuality.

It's the same exact shit, with the only difference being he's not part of the marginalized group his punchlines are targeting (which still isn't all that abnormal since he did make fun of Hispanics and Asians as well) and either people are just upset that they're being made fun of in some capacity, or they have some heavy rose tinted glasses on.

It would be a lot more consistent if people just said he was always a bad comedian rather than implying he was only funny when he was making fun of black people.

what he said would be completely false, which it absolutely isn't.

I feel like thats the case with most comics that do any sort of real societal comedy.

Whether its a a guy like Lewis Black or Jon Stewart joking about Trump, or Roseanne or some other MAGAt going off about those damn liberals, comedy that gets applause instead of laughs really isnt comedy.

??? What the hell are you talking about? I'm just pointing out a double standard, since a large chunk of this thread is "he was funny then, he isn't funny now!" when, again, all he did was set his sights on another marginalized group.

All I'm seeing is a ton of self reports ITT of people saying "it's not okay to make fun of trans people BUT it is okay to make fun of black people."
