I actually am, but it's for a seasonal position that only extends until september. I do not have any permanent part time or full time spots available.

To me that's the main thing I like about it. Since it isn't corporate, I don't have to worry about any of that shit for the most part. I can actually do a good job because I want to and like to, not because some faceless higher up will yell at me for not getting enough credit card applications. The union part of it a good for several reasons, the main being job security if somebody decided to pull some bullshit over on me.

Goddamn right it does. People fought and bled and died in order to make work not suck. And everyone benefits from their sacrifice.

The weren't just heroes. They were union men.

It should be an international holiday, too. That's a damn fine idea.

Hold up. I stopped reading around Post 25 or something - are y'all seriously reading the topic title, the OP, and my original follow up post as if I'm actually blaming us, the workers? I thought the tone was extremely evident it's the company I'm pissed at and blaming.

sarcasm is impossible to read if not explicitly stated

using the "nobody wants to work" without being clear made it sound like you bought into that

So you didn't read the opening post. Or the part where I mentioned it's a $90billion company

Whatever. Good news. There's a good chance I'm going to be at 2 people again tomorrow, except for an extra hour

I feel like when situations get to this, the money/payroll they would have to spend on person #3 gets split between person #1&2 to make it worth

Hearing a 'person #3 called out, you get half their days pay instead' would lift peoples moods I bet

I like this idea... But only as an option. Personally, an extra ~$50 isn't nearly worth the extra stress and headache.

No. Just... no.

Quitting is a privilege. Especially in the economy we live in.

Until the necessities for life are decoupled from the value our labor produces, quitting is the ultimate privilege. It means you have the capital to not work, even for a short time, and not be left exposed to the elements to struggle and die. That's the definition of privilege these days.
It's not your right to work somewhere and it's not their right to have you work there.

I've kinda had my limit of people saying dumb shit today. Please don't.

Am I the only one who didn't get your sarcasm? If not, then you think every user here refused to read the op? I read it.

No rest for the wicked or something
Money don't grow on trees. I got bills to pay, I got mouths to feed, there ain't nothing in this world for free. I know I can't slow down, I can't hold back, though you know I wish I could. Oh, no there ain't no rest for the wicked, until we close our eyes for good

Some people would rather just go home after a long , minimally manned day rather than stay for OT. Which is fair.

I was assuming that the extra time it took to close up extended past their normal clocking off time.
