Wow they must have seen my link's awakening topic when I talked about being surprised how much I liked that game. I don't know if their takeaway was the artstyle, but overall looking forward to it.

I'm very interested in this. I loved the Link's Awakening (remake/remaster/whatever) art style. The game mechanics seem different and interesting. It should be different playing a Legend of Zelda game as someone other than Link.

I really think it should have been The Legend of Link, though.

Not very happy its all puzzle and strategy based. Wish she could actually combat the enemies herself. Its like they took the crafting elements from TOTK as inspiration for this one. Seems like itll be fun, but I can already see how tedious itll be not too long after.

Looks great, I hope it sells well so they make more Zelda-led games

Huuh, I know it fits the whole wisdom shtick, but I'm not comfortable with how passive she is in combat given the Zelda team's issues with having a female hero for these games.

At the very least she can pick up and throw a rock her own body weight just like Link can, so she's not entirely a fragile damsel.

Reminds me of all that building on TotK. It was fun for a minute than I got sick of it tbh.

Well, we all have an opinion, don't we?

I'm sure it will be a fun game and I've always wanted Zelda to become the protag for once, so I will give it a shot, but I hate when devs are afraid of making their female characters into fighters and will default into the magic and puzzle focus

Also I don't care much for the plasticy art style... just continuing a Remake's style and full on asset reuse for Zelda's game feels cheap.

Ugh, those models are hideous.

Just make something new in the LTTP style. There's a reason people play those randomizer to shit. They want that.

I thought the art style would have been a one time thing for LA Remake.

I've been wanting this for so long. Would've been great to see a mainline Zelda game where you play as Zelda but I'll take this. Would also be cool to see a game where you can choose to play as Link or Zelda which would give a different experience, plus a co-op mode.

Well, I am not going to speculate on what it could have been. This is what we have and it looks interesting. Execution TBD.

I am only commenting on the gender comment, which I don't necessarily think is valid here.

And speaking of Link's Awakening, do we know for sure that Echoes of Wisdom is EPD (as Wikipedia already claims), or could it be Grezzo?

Looksinteresting, I suppose, but Id much prefer actual combat compared to what was shown. Who knowsmaybe it will click with me once I try it.

Eh, the Grezzo model designs grew on me. They're okay.

This should have been a spin-off series. I'm going to get it and will likely enjoy it, but it's very different from a Legend of Zelda game, especially in combat.

Yeah, I get that, but still the look ain't good when you consider how ridiculous they've been about a female lead up until now.

"What would Link do if Zelda was the hero?"
"Link has to be a man to maintain balance with Zelda being a woman!"

This game is basically "What if we gave Zelda the notebook from Scribblenauts" which is such an insane concept but also one that I'm totally down to try.

The puzzle factor of summoning enemies and various blocks looks fun, but hope there's some more traditional magic abilities. Want them to lean into Zelda being a sorcerer with magic attacks.

For realsies. It ruled in Hyrule Warriors. They keep teasing us. Making her look potentially playable in the first TotK teaser, now making her playable but without traditional combat. Not to mention the rapier she has but never uses in TP. Maybe her capabilites evolve with new echoes or items throughout this game though. Anyway, it's still cool that she's finally getting the spotlight in a real game.

I like she gets enemies summons to do battle, always a fav thing to do in any game that has it

Looks really fun.

Except instead of eating them to take their powers, she just makes copies of them using magic without affecting the original. Kind of like piracy!

Yeah, I hope so too. There's a possibility it might be that way because the echo stuff was only one of four item shortcuts according to the UI. I hope we see stuff like spell-casting for either attacking or for altering yourself. Kinda like Zelda 2's magic system where you could cast offense-up, defense-up, or transform yourself into a fairy temporarily.
