To the 24th CE Steam Summer Sale Event!!

Here's how it works:

1. The 24th CE Steam Summer Sale Event will commence on Thursday June 27th at 10am PDT.
2. Post your Steam wishlist and maybe someone will buy you a game! Make sure your wishlist is set to PUBLIC.
3. If you are gifted a game, post in this topic stating "[GameFAQs username] has gifted me [Name of game]". If we all follow the same format it will make for much easier record keeping.
4. Gifts will be recorded on this Google Sheets worksheet: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1iSMMUth61Z9PtHb87NpjSbYuawU-Ok-zUdfzMHSsDx4/
5. Humble Bundle/Choice Keys may be given away and will be counted for the entirety of this event. For every five keys given away you will receive 1 entry into the final draw. Please mark posts for keys received as such for ease of record keeping (eg. "[GameFAQs username] has gifted me a key for [Name of game]").
6. This event will conclude on Monday July 8th at 2pm PDT. Shortly after the final draw will be conducted.
7. As I am conducting this event and the final draw, unless otherwise stated on a prize-by-prize basis, I am excluding myself from any prizes to remain fully impartial and transparent.
8. The number and value of prizes shall be determined on an ongoing basis as set by those wishing to contribute, and as such may not be finalised until the conclusion of this event. Please note that to receive a gift card from the final draw you must be friends with the gift card giver on Steam for a period of 3 days (72 hours) or more. This is a requirement of Steam and we have no control over this.
9. If you wish to contribute to the final draw, please indicate here what your prize(s) will be.
10. The prize worth the most shall be awarded to the person with the most gifts given. All other prizes shall be drawn randomly using an online random number generator pitted against the order of the gifts being given. Prizes shall be drawn from most value to least value. To help spread the joy around only one prize shall be awarded randomly to any one person. This means the person who takes the top prize for most gifts given will still be eligible for a randomly drawn prize, and as such is the only person with the potential to receive two prizes.
11. You may officially post your wishlist up to 3 times per topic. If you abuse this rule you will be found out and ridiculed extensively!! :P Continued violations of this rule may result in you being excluded from the final draw and/or the entire event. Please note that wishlists in your sig are not counted towards official posts.
12. If you live outside of the USA, region codes/locking may prevent you from gifting users in certain countries and vice versa. This is a limitation of Steam due to regional pricing differences and as such falls outside our jurisdiction. You may purchase keys from third party sites to give away to get around this limitation, with said keys still counted as gifts. Please note that keys given away from lists posted in this topic will be counted as keys and not gifts.
13. You may conduct your own giveaway within this event, provided your giveaway does not hijack and override this event. You will need to disclose all rules of your giveaway up front so everyone knows exactly what is required. It is preferable for your giveaway to be based on skill, either in full (ie. tell me why youd like to win the game Im giving away and the best story/reason wins) or partially (ie. first person to guess the game Im describing wins) rather than purely random (ie. pick a number between X and Y, or guess my favourite number, etc.).
14. And last but by no means least, this is a friendly, fun event. Discussion of games given, wished for or just because is highly encouraged. Please be courteous to one and all and, most importantly, have fun!

I'm on my first playthrough of it! I can't believe this went under my radar somehow. Same with Detroit: Become Human, I'll probably get that and play it after I get a tiny break from these style of games. I'm getting some major Stranger Things vibes after beating the Condenser level

World's still pretty close to standard MH, just with a lot mod convenience factors. Rise deviates more with Wirebugs and Weapon Arts making it more of a standard action experience

Thanks man! Sorry it took so long to post this here (you told me to check my DMs in the last thread), I think that's around when I went to bed and I only just turned on my computer a few minutes ago.

Think I'm actually done posting my wishlist for now. Just the three games I got in this event alone will last me a while, let alone the rest of my backlog. Gonna spread some love later.

Both great, though I prefer the faster pace of Rise. Still, World is absolutely fantastic. The only things I have against World are the weapon designs (mods fixed that) and the way multiplayer works. You can't join a friend in a hunt unless they have seen the cutscenes that the game wants them to see and you, at minimum, have to have done the same. Rise? Soon as you start you can add friends to your lobby, go the the gathering hub and hunt from beginning to end.

Isn't World a completely different kind of game compared to the other entries in the series?

There's more of an emphasis on the World, endemic life, scenery and overall making each zone feel as if it's a living, breathing eco-system.

It's one of the best in the franchise, but it comes with caveats. The multiplayer system was silly, both you and a friend had to be up to the same point if I recall in the story, as well as waiting for cutscenes to play out before you could join. They also introduced the clutch-claw in IB which I hate with an absolute passion due to MR monsters being designed around it's usage. Weapon design was also hit & miss, some of the weapons were gorgeous but there was too much of an emphasis on bone with a claw slapped on, or metal with a feather on it. Astera makes sense design wise but from a game perspective, it sucked to get around, Seliana in IB was a good improvement.

That said, it has numerous other things going for it which put it up there.

I play Rise at launch on the Switch, completed it, thought it sucked and found I'd rather just play GU on the Switch instead. I remember feeling like it was unfinished.

Palamutes in Rise are cool, wirebug is one of the strongest mobility / QoL changes and I didn't like it but the wirebug moves reminded of hunter arts which I liked.

I've heard Rise is significantly better with Sunbreak. I own SB funnily enough, Rise just soured me enough that I never got around to it.

You need to be friends with someone for 72 hours (3 days) in order to be able to send gift cards to each other. For games there is no limit. Only for gift cards.
