Why doesn't it have a another evolution

They need to bring back Mega Evo

Starmie is one of those water types that can use electric attacks if given the right TM.

I remember seeing a joke mega evolution for it where it just gets a third star lol

Mega evolution was such a SHIT gimmick and I'm sad it's probably returning in the new Legends game. Hopefully they don't add any new ones, but... you know how it goes.

Starmie doesn't need an evolution or a mega evolution (it's already really strong and cool, and evolutions should be given to Pokemon that actually need them) and I can't imagine what a regional form of Staryu/Starmie would even be like.

The gimmick itself was good, but they wasted too many of them on Pokemon that really didn't need them. I want more mega evolutions for Pokemon that A) actually need the boost because they suck, and B) haven't already gotten love from a regional form or something. Pokemon like Golduck, Flygon, Vespiquen, Dragalge, Trevenant, the Johto starters besides Typhlosion (who already got a regional form), the Kalos starters besides Greninja (just retcon Ash-Greninja into a mega evolution), and so on.

Regional variants don't really do anything for their base counterparts.

Also not sure what they for Starmie since it's biggest issue stems from being a victim of the power creep.

make a regional form that triples down on fast special attacker. just fucking do Gen 9 minmaxing and take 20 points of attack and put them into special attack and speed

idk how the regional form would work but thats a pretty obvious bandaid fix. with 1000+ Pokemon 100 special attack just doesn't cut it anymore and its bulk has fallen off hard.

alternatively give it nasty plot or at least calm mind

(remember when they buffed BSTs in Gens 6 and 7? Why did they stop doing that?)

Yeah that's what I mean. On paper it's a neat idea. In practice they gave them to Pokemon who either A) Absolutely did not need them (Tyranitar, Salamence, RAYQUAZA), B) Are already super popular (Lucario, Gardevoir, FUCKING CHARIZARD WHO GOT TWO OF THEM) or C)... both (Blaziken, Scizor, MEWTWO, WHO ALSO GOT TWO OF THEM).

Hell, even the shitters who DID get Megas weren't made much better. I never see anyone talk about how good Beedrill is recently (meaning, Gen 6 and 7, when Megas were a thing), or Abomasnow, or fucking AUDINO. The reason? Even with their Megas, they're still mid at absolute BEST.

Out of the 46 Pokemon that got Megas, I can think of... maybe 5 that strike that happy medium of being "garbage Pokemon made usable by their Mega", and even then, some of them are utterly BROKEN (Mega Kangaskhan would like a word, even though normal Kangaskhan sucks.)

Another thing GameFreak dropped the ball on regarding Megas... why the FLIPPING FUCK CHRIST did they make the ONLY Kalos Pokemon able to Mega Evolve... Diancie? A Pokemon that's already event only, and I THINK it's Mega Stone was ALSO a separate event? Like... Mega Evolution was discovered in Kalos, and you're telling me the only native Pokemon that can use it is DIANCIE?! I mean, sure, there are WORSE options, Diancie makes a certain amount of lore sense, but... Come ON, not even the Kalos starters?!

What were GameFreak even THINKING when they made this stupid af gimmick?!I don't want it to return because I have NO faith GameFreak will actually do what they should've done in the first place and give it to more mid Pokemon, they'll just make Mega Incineroar and Mega Landorus and a bunch more shit like that.

You gotta give them benefit of the doubt, making a game is a big undertaking. You don't see nearly a fraction of the work that was put in, only the final product, it's easy to take for granted all the things they did right. The few things that were weak in a particularly title get too much heat. Was game fun? Yes

i loved using Starmie in Gen 1 and 2 (in game and Pokemon Stadium). Psychic, Thunderbolt, Surf, and Recover.
