I think what they should do is take their most popular subreddits and make them private unless you already have an active account and if you get a temporary suspension you can't ever get back to them.

From what I read in comments, most of the NSFW subs are just people advertising their stuff on other sites. Not to mention those subreddits already aren't visible on the main pages.

Yeah. RGW and like subs are just pages of nothing but secret not so secret OF advertisements. The art subs are the same for comms.

Paywall the porn, eventually remove the porn because the credit card companies demand such, keep the paywall because it provides a premium service and you're stealing if you unsub now. Subreddits like the sinkpissing one are all anyone can visit now, not even the game ones.

I'm into some of the more niche subs, so I rarely run into that issue.

The niche subs will become the main ones when everyone is shunted around by the paywall. Then those have to be paywalled too.

Turning free things into paid things when the free things are literally populated by user content feels really unhinged.

Uninstalled Reddit awhile ago. The main subreddits are almost all repost bots or prompts made by AI, with incredibly cringey comment chains at the top. And the niche ones have stupid rules where the mods will remove your posts for inane reasons. Not to mention, the app itself sucks and just... doesn't work much of the time

Several times I made stupid low-effort posts that got thousands of upvotes. But the posts where I actually wanted to generate discussion largely get ignored. It's so mind-numbing

Reddit is still one of the best places to go to for professional discussions. I dont really care about anything else on the site though

Reddit already lets you do this, people can subscribe to your page.

I've literally never seen it done outside of people posting pornography.

Ive spent forty years on forums and bbs boards and I just cant make myself adapt to the more current versions like reddit.

Honestly thats why Im so pissed about what theyve done to this place. Its not perfect, it has tons of problems but goddamn it I feel comfortable here.
