This game looks and sounds like shit, yet that one topic when it was shown off had people thinking it was somehow good.

Thats not an issue for me since I rarely controlled my companions to begin with, preferring to control my player character when at all possible.

That being said, its never a good thing to be actively taking options away from the player especially without giving a good reason for doing so.

you also have a passive ability, 3 abilities + an Ult

Every game by Bioware has gotten worse once they sold themselves to EA like every other company they take over.

I saw this earlier, it basically killed whatever remaining excitement I had.

Dragon Age really needs to stop simplifying the games and go more back to how Origins was.

They're making it like Mass Effect. I don't inherently have a problem with this. It's quite obvious that the scale and scope of the game doesn't match the previous titles. Make the gameplay good. Make the story good. Make the world good. Make the characters good.

Also, I should explain that I have no hype for this game whatsoever. Let it release and either be good or shit. It matters not to me.

Yeah, my gf was super into the other games. She even loved Inquisition, which I understand to be less-liked among fans.

She has not been impressed with this one so far. She's still gonna play it sooner or later, though. She's invested in the story and characters.

As long as they have stats or equipment, that's still better than FF16.

Not a deal breaker to me...but also not very reassuring. WTF are they trying to do?! That was oen of the biggest criticisms for FFXVI as well which is a game they seem trying to emulate.

It's going to be like Mass Effect, where you can command your companions to use their abilities, but otherwise they are AI-controlled.

I don't like it too much myself.

They're trying to make it more like Mass Effect it seems. Which I felt they did the same with DA2.

I'm fine with it. Of course I'd prefer more options, but I wasn't a fan of Inquisition anyway, and this does look like itlle be better in many ways at least.

Didnt really like it when they did it for Jade Empire, going to hate it here too.

It feels like the more info that comes out about the game, I get less interested in playing it. And Im someone that enjoyed 2 and Inquisition despite the flaws they had.

Im still looking forward to playing it. The last Dragon Age game I played was Inquisition and I played the hell out of it and all DLC, got platinum trophy and loved every second of it despite the majority of gamefaqs telling me BioWare was trash then, all the talent had left, and it was a terrible game. In combat I only ever controlled my main character.

Then again Im used to that on this site. People kept telling me Witcher 3 was a bad game because the combat was trash yet I still loved it, got platinum trophy and played all DLC. Hell there is a large amount of people who constantly say how bad Skyrim was yet I loved that and got platinum trophy and scoured every inch of that game to 100%.

One of my favorite games on PS3 was White Knight Chronicles. I played it 1,350 hours in the first 7 months. People always talk about how terrible that game was. I loved it and it was one of my favorite experiences on PS3.

For over 20 years gamefaqs has been telling me how every game sucks and is trash yet I keep enjoying so many of them. Im still looking forward to this.

I can only imagine how much Bioware devs were seething when Baldur's Gate 3 came out with all the features they've spent years "streamlining" / gutting, claiming they only get in the way and that gamers don't want them...

AND it swept all the GotY awards
AND it sold over 15 millions copies
AND it set the benchmark by which the lump of shit they are working on will be judged

Im fine with this if they bring back the more complex tactics system from origins. I hardly ever controlled anyone but my PC in the previous games. Usually just for positioning or maybe one big spell combo

There isn't a universe where people shit talk Witcher 3, it was beloved as hell.

Yeah, I immediately called bullshit when I read that. The others are fair, but I have difficulty believing a significant number shittalked Skyrim either. I shit talk Skyrim because I played Morrowind so I know what it lacks, but the vast majority of the player base started with Skyrim, doesnt know any better, and worships that game.

BG3 didn't just win goty, it did it in the same year totk came out

This will still sell well because people are morons, it's like when I go on Steam and the new COD is sitting at Overwhelmingly Negative reviews but it's also the top seller lol

Casual RPG fans fresh off some Dark Souls game would say the combat was bad. Any deeper probing than that revealed that the action was all these people cared about and they didn't actually have arguments for the action being bad, just not "great" or "perfectly responsive".

Veilguard looks to be an action focused game over RPG, not the other way around like the Witcher. Moreover, comparing the evolving gameplay of the Witcher series with the schizophrenic Dragon Age series is quite frankly insulting to the former.

This game looks like yet another mediocre to bad product from Bioware, and a complete abdication of a lot of the qualities of the series. People have a poor outlook on the game because the game has a troubled history and looks extremely mediocre even as presented by Bioware.

I'm trying my hardest to remain positive I've been waiting to long to play this I'll just wait and see how the full game is.

I love this series to much I even enjoyed DA2 I just hope the gameplay is varied amongst the different classes.

When The Witcher 3 was racking up Game of the Years and generally being perceived as a masterpiece - which it is - there was a contingent of action first people (or trolls) who would constantly make topics questioning why people thought it was good when the action in the game was "so bad". These topics were quite common and there were never any good arguments made by these people as to why the combat was "bad". So I can see where the perception that their was criticism comes from, but it was only surface criticism at best.

Not an a whole but people consistently shit all over the combat which they say ultimately makes it a bad game. I see it all the time on gamefaqs. Especially from people who prize From Software gameplay.

Anyway I'm still looking forward to trying Dragon Age despite the skepticism here. Again I loved Inquisition and I know that has a lot of detractors.
