1. Left Wingers have both, more of a reason to leave if Trump wins, and a lot more places that would welcome them with open arms.

1a. Even if Democrats win, we aren't going to start rounding up people just for being republican and put them in concentration camps. So they have nothing to fear except common courtesy and respectful decency if Harris wins.

1b. While many Democrats may leave if Trump wins, it is true, that many will also choose to stay either because they can't afford to leave or because they simply can't upend their life in order to leave the country. Some may choose to stay to try and make changes to the country for the better, but most people probably don't have the power or the means or the willingness to devote their lives to such a thing.

2. It is not same thing both sides, Republicans would choose to leave because they hate Democrats so much. Democrats would choose to leave because they fear for their life.

Also most republicans are just talking the talk but arent willing to walk the walk. I am sure that any Democrat or non political person that can afford to leave will actually do so if Trump wins if they feel Project 2025 starting to become a real thing. Republicans know they can choose to stay and live in peace without fear. Many others will not have such a choice due to their lifestyle. When people start getting arrested for being LGBT , people are not left with much of a choice any more.

I'd wager in most cases when people say things like that it's just a hyperbolic way of expressing how much they hate the idea of a certain person being in power and isn't meant literally. Like when somebody says they're so hungry they could eat a horse they're not literally going to eat a horse.

Maybe in some cases a person means it at the time but once they put more thought into what moving out of the country would entail they change their mind. Then of course a tiny percentage actually go through with it.

It's actually quite depressing because Kamala Harris actually wants to make life *better* for right-wingers and they'll have to miss out on America becoming a better place. But they're so blinded by hatred of "teh libs" that they'd literally go to a country ruled by Vladimir Putin? Really?

Actual right wing / white supremacist parties are considered a joke here and never get into Parliament. The ones you consider to fall under that label are about the same position on the political spectrum as Democrats, or at worst, a little bit to their right.

TBH life would also be a lot better if those people weren't around. It's win from both directions.

If the Republicans win... I'm at minimum going to lose all of my rights, and at worst, be rounded up in a camp and/or killed. Fleeing the country is the only real option to keep a semblance of well-being.

They might be able to find an isolated community in the Far North or certian parts of Christchurch that suits their views and is too isolated to really be bothered by government, but that's about it. They'd have much better chances across the ditch for finding what they're after, and even there I still don't think it'd meet their standards. This part of the world just isn't (thankfully) what they're looking for.

Wtf? I vaguely remember Trumble advocating for US 3rd party pres candidate back then (cmiiw). His argument iirc was "biden/trump/israel/war bad. vote 3rd party to send rep/dem a message. don't settle for lesser evil." or something like that. I didn't know about him openly supporting NZF & ACT but this would definetely explain his support for US 3rd party. Is this true @Trumble?
