I really need to play this game for real.

Yes, amazing game. I want a new Kirby game with a similar ability combo system so badly.

I don't know where I'd rank it, but I love the combination mechanics. Really cool secret final boss too. Getting all the shards is a bit tedious.

It's okay. It's slow and clunky compared to later games. Kirby controls like he has a weight attached to him.

Getting the true ending requires a lot of retreading with specific power combos.

I tried replaying it on Wii U VC a few yrs ago and couldnt get through it. The nostalgia wasnt enough.

I thought that was great though. It incentivized players to try different abilities and combos instead of settling in on 2-3 that they really liked. I enjoyed going back through previous levels with different power combos, both for more crystals to 100% the game and sometimes just for fun.

It's so good. The power combos kept me entertained for hours and hours as a kid.

Never played any Kirby past Super Star.

It's just ok tbh. Combo power-ups were really cool to have in the series, but besides that, meh.

The combination thing is cool on paper but you are almost always pushed to combine whatever is in front of you, so you are railroaded most of the game. And some combos are really terrible, like the ones that slow you down even more.

It's fine until you run into situations like, "Is that black and orange or black and brown? Oops, wrong one, now I have to leave the level, find the right combination in a different level, then replay 75% of this one again."
It just takes way too long to try different things.

I think it's very good. Although I feel Super Star is better in several ways, I really loved the atmosphere, levels, and music. The final final boss is one of my favorite video game bosses of all time.

Really good concepts really mediocre gameplay carried by the really good concepts.

It's one of those games where I can understand the massive gap in opinions as to where it lands when ranking the series. It does get carried pretty hard by nostalgia as well at times.
