I miss being a kid and having no responsibilities too. I miss having hopes and dreams. I try not to dwell on this sort of thing and try to have fun where I can because what else can you do?

I will say the pencil sharpener made me go "oh wow, I remember those" in a sort of fond way even though they tended to be terrible and eat pencils lol.

When people say their favorite childhood cartoon is Adventure Time, I die a little inside.

I'm convinced there was only ever one gigantic sheet of rectangular pizza that everyone used.

That's why it's gone now, we finished it off in like 2002.

Yeah the one that got me the other day was that PT is a decade old.

Saw a Youtube video where the dude had to explain what it was because it's so old most of his age 14-25 year old audience have never heard of it .

I showed one of friends a YouTube video I had uploaded in 2007, so the thing said "17 years ago" .

Our pizza was this weird trapezoid shape. Like it wasn't a rectangle, but the edges moved down towards a point but sorta stopped 40% there and just had an end. Kind of like if you just cut off 30% of the tip side of a pizza slice.

It was so fucking weird. No clue how they cut it, because it was clearly by design, not accident.

My dad is one of those people thatms difficult to buy gifts for because hes got everything and his thing is already a way better version.

Except for nostalgia. His old workbench that he recreated in his new house is exactly the same minus one of those old fashioned pencil sharpeners.

So for Christmas one of the gifts I got him was one of them. That thing took forever to find. Good luck funding one offline in a store.

I actually had one of those old pencil sharpeners in my house growing up, in a small transition area between the mud room and the basement of all places.

I think we just it threw out at some point. I never noticed that they went away until people started pointing it out.

Pencil sharpener actually got autocorrect'd to penis sharpener and I kind of regret fixing it tbh.

Back in my day, we lost all our lives and continues on Death Egg Zone, and had to start over at Emerald Hill

I used to get up and go to the pencil sharpener just to like have a break in the action

Fair, those were good times.. when we still believed that working hard, going to college, etc. was pretty much the path forward to make it in life... not before finding out that we've been set forth on a path of mostly failure.

It was only the good old days because dreams were thought to be attainable back then.

I always tell my students that school is the only place where we're required to treat you fairly. And it's so true - the working world is cruel, and you can lose your job for breaking a rule you didn't know existes, and you can get passed up for promotion because your skin tone doesn't "match the company culture".

People who talk about "the good old days" are people who peaked in high school

I mean I've had the long term goal of becoming a gamedev since I was literally 4 when I learned that was a job.

Even somehow got my dream school to help make this happen, and then everything went south as reality caught up with me and I realized the skillset I had spent 20 years building isn't actually desired anymore.

Literally said to my face "we'd LOVE you 20 years ago".

I genuinely hate working with the Unreal Editor and blueprints and just feel very alienated from my colleagues.

The pizza I had in school, sucked.

I dont think of there being any good old days in my personal life, so small recollections of things Im nostalgic for are not on such a grand scale. My good old days are a time when I knew less about how garbage people still were or when technology prevented the worst from being reality.
