As I'm sure almost everyone has pointed out, what the fuck is Playstation even offering at this point? Do they have literally any games?

Polls on the PS5 board are showing the vast majority of them aren't getting it and outside of that dedicated community there are a lot of people who aren't getting into the PS5 generation at all.

If my PS5 breaks, I'll buy a Slim with the optical drive, thanks. I'm not going to shell out double the price for barely noticeable graphical improvements to games that won't really capitalize much on it. And if I were to do that, I'd just get a damn PC for slightly more.

I'm still waiting on the PS3 to be worth buying, much less the 4 or 5

I haven't actually owned a console since the original xbox, so I don't think I'll be doing that. I was very tempted to get a PS5/4 so I could at least play Bloodborne for once in my miserable life, but I upgraded my PC instead.

People said this same stuff about the Playststion Portal, and it was sold out for months. Only recently can you walk into a store and find one.

Mark my words: PS5 Pro preorders will run out within an hour of them going up. They'll be nearly impossible to find until well into next year.

I have a launch model, and if anything, this prompted me to buy a Slim.

PS5 literally plays hundreds of games. If you're talking exclusives, they have 2 GotY contenders so far this year.

Which ones? I can only think of Astro Bot (developed by the Japan studios they've been downplaying). Are you referring to one of the confirmed timed exclusives? And even Astro Bot has a good chance of getting a PC port.

Yeah that'd be a confirmed timed exclusive. Well, technically it might not be officially confirmed but with SE saying they're looking to more aggressively multi-plat in the future it's all but confirmed.

When did PC releases suddenly negate console exclusivity? Sonic the Hedgehog came out on PC back in the 90s. Nobody would have said Sonic isnt a Genesis exclusive / reason to own one. Morrowind, Knights of the Old Republic, and even Halo were also on PC but everyone considered those Xbox exclusive. For years now, every new Xbox exclusive is also on PC.

If an eventual PC release means it's no longer an exclusive, then only Nintendo makes exclusive games.

Also- you whine about a $700 price tag for a gaming device, but then go "all their games are on PC." You aren't building a gaming PC for under $700 that'll play Rebirth worth a damn. You'll probably spend twice that.

I don't even have a regular PS5 any more. The pro inspired me to sell it and just go all in on PC again, where I was before the PS2 era.

Probably will still grab the Switch 2 but I'm done with MS and Sony.

It's doubtful Rebirth hits anything else within a year of its release. Game is already 7 months old and they havent announced anything. They're only just now getting 16 on PC.

True, but I think we're in a gamer bubble here. Most people aren't doing technical breakdowns of which console they want, what exclusives are what, how far their money goes on PC etc. I don't think most of the market is comprised of careful buyers.

I think the vast majority of the market are people who just get a console and buy it and get a couple of games for it without a whole lot of thought beyond what they really want to play.

I don't care about games being exclusive at all (in my opinion, the less exclusives the better) - but it does tilt my opiniion on whether a console is worth buying if it has a significant library I can't get anywhere else. It's much less about jealousy or being part of an in-crowd or whatever, and just simply a matter of needing to buy specific tech to play specific games.

The only reason I got a PS4 was because it had an incredible library of exclusives at the time.

I mean people are allowed to think that way, but consolemakers are the ones pushing their product closer to PC while also basically going "The cost gets closer but we'll always do less! Also no free online for you."

One of the main reasons Xbox isn't doing so well is the perception it has no exclusives at all. PC and consoles were much more separated back in the Genesis era and Sonic is at least a Sega property unlike something like FF and Wukong, both of which could potentially even go to Xbox.

And PC has a far bigger library than the PS5 not counting emulation and can do far more things.

You absolutely can. I can throw together a build when I get home on part picker.

And if you want to pull the "but the monitor, but the..." Things you might as well add the cost of a TV and bracket/entertainment stand to the PS5 too.

I use it to rip the CDs I buy. But yeah, finding a case that supported a CD drive for my recent build was annoying.

I was actually thinking about getting a slim PS5 (with disc drive) because I never did get a PS4. But I've looked over the list of exclusive games and the only one I maybe would want to play is FFVII Rebirth. So I'm thinking now I might just get a PS4.
