I think Vance won in a way Like if you curve to expectations Vance exceeded them a lot and Walz kinda just did what you'd expect. Earnest vibes Walz crushed and Vance felt phony many times, but Vance came off as competent and sane which is better than Trump has. HOWEVER I almost wonder if the Trump base that isn't total Trump homer wouldn't have been turned off by him cause he felt very much like the kinda thing Hillary Clinton was decried for. Tie seems like the right answer. Really doesn't feel like either took it away. Obviously as far as how I LIKED the answers that's different lol. I guess if you pressured me I'd pick Walz as the winner just because he had 1 gaff compared to Vance's 2, and Vance's gaffs were strong soundbites while Walz's was just a drawn out awkward answer about the Tianemen thing. Vance may have tried the economic pitch, but it looks like it didn't work out. Data shows that while Covid was not Trumps doing, it was the Biden's administration that was undoing the economic damage caused by Covid. And while countries like China was also hit by Covid, they were have lower growth(but not negative unlike the US), Biden brought GDP growth back up percentage wise. Inflation came along with nominal GDP, but it has since decreased from its peak in 2021-2022. It is reflected in gas prices going back to its steady state equilibrium. But I got a question for Vance. I think if Trump really cared about a national ban it'd have slipped by now to be honest. I think this is an issue he earnestly doesn't care about in either direction (he doesn't care about women's rights a lick but also doesn't actually have any moral issue with abortion) and is just playing to whatever he feels helps his support base most. I could absolutely see him doing the national ban because he would be proud of having it as a legacy thing but he might also consider helping overturn Roe V Wade to be enough to appease him there.
