Unfortunately the right wing is all that matters. The left have effectively kneecapped themselves by holding such a high standard that politicians can't rely on them to turn out and vote, so it's politically infeasible to appeal to them and risk locking swing voters out entirely (which gives the GOP a guaranteed win).

Corrik, I have a question, and it's one I wish I could ask my Trump-supporting family members:

Can you elucidate what EXACTLY it is about Trump you dislike on a personal level? I want to preface my next sentence this by stating that none of what I'm about to say applies to you, nor am I saying you are in any way a bad person...this is just me trying to get a baseline of what I think is bad about Trump as a person versus what you think is bad about Trump as a person.

For me, Trump is willfully ignorant, to the point where he goes out of his way to reject new information and actively fights against learning anything. He's openly and blatantly racist. He's a narcissist who has actively demonstrated that he does give a shit about anyone other than himself. And all of this comes together in a wannabe strongman persona that inspires active hatred and violence from his supporters.

Do you disagree with any of that as an assessment of Trump as a person? And again, I just want to point out that this is not me being like "Oh my God, how can you support him if he's so horrible?" I understand the idea that a horrible person can still offer policies that you support. I'm just trying to get on the same page in terms of how horrible you think he is compared to me, and why.

I think in a way Trump is kinda like me. He doesnt have much of a filter and sometimes says things better left unsaid outright which can hurt feelings and doesn't pull punches when right.

Trump also abuses loopholes whenever he can. Like he says cuz "he is smart". I'm not gonna totally lie here. I get it. Everyone who is rich probably does do those same things as well. And, likely if you go to a tax preparer or so on they probably are literally paid to find these and do these themselves. However, there are levels of where yeah I'll do whatever I can to maximize my money and maybe it gets to the point of where does your moral compass land. Like, i personally am not willing to crap on someone to save money even if it's perfectly a legal loophole. And to be fair, it's probably why I'll never be rich. Trump is willing to. And, I find that offputting somewhat. I get it... it's legal and so on... but... ehhh.

I think Trump just repeats himself. And it's generally a self aggrandizing nature. It's funny. But it's gotten stale. I get he is creating an image, but the image has just gotten weird somewhat. I don't think his personality is entirely terrible, but I think it really reeks of old person on Facebook syndrome. I think he is just as susceptible to slanted propaganda as any other elderly person on the internet.

Do not think he is racist. Believe he legitimately believes on crapping on anyone he legally can to maximize money and that it tends to go against the impoverished that can't fight back, which poverty tends to lay higher % wise in minorities. Think anyone rich that can benefit him of any color are just as good to him. The only color he sees is green.

The problem with all the above I stated is. Most politicians aren't much better. They are just better at presenting a better image. That said, Trump isn't a great role model nor my ideal candidate.

Probably thinks congress and the government doesn't work, despite voting for the people who are intentionally stonewalling and impeding the things that congress can actually do. Because D's are bad!

I believe the point being made was not just that they did it, but that not only did they do it, but there is a VERY REAL chance that the person they were doing it for is going to get elected again 4 years later.
