Time to check out of this topic series for a couple of weeks.

So is it just supposed to be people turning away from Kamala? I don't see anything Trump has done recently really moving polls/voters in his direction. He has canceled half his stuff, his rallies have been a mix of the same talking points he has used for months combined with bizarre stuff like Arnold Palmer. He hasn't been doing anything new that I can tell.

It's the franchise owner making that claim, not McDonald's. And yeah, if they only own the one restaurant most people would agree that it's a "small business".

if there is anything to the polls (which obviously, who knows), the numbers don't show much movement on her support. they show trump gaining. so it would probably be undecideds breaking to him.

You should read nate silvers post regarding the "flooding the polls". He said it's negligible and it basically doesn't matter for sites like 538 and silver bulletin because they adjust them for bias or completely disregard them due to not being highly rated enough.

Also 538 and Nate Silver are no longer affiliated and he has spent lots of time shit talking them this election.

Regardless of anyone's feelings on Silver, neither he nor 538 uses the exact same methodology that worked before. Because it doesn't work now. Whether you want to call Silver a hack or blame the source data (and the truth is probably in the middle), there is no reason to think either one can recreate the accuracy they haven't been able to produce in over a decade by anything other than dumb luck.

Most people have no real grasp over the franchise system so I don't think they would.

I'm not confident in how this election will go. Election day will be very apprehensive. Far too many people have no idea what Trump stands for, nor do they care. They will vote for him no matter what. Hopefully January 6th and the actions surrounding that are enough to turn enough people off to keep him out of the white house. It should be. If not, then I'm not sure why we shouldn't try the same thing. I don't think we should. I'm just not sure why we shouldn't.

I don't really want to belabour this point but I'm not buying it. This person runs a single location of one of the biggest businesses in the world, claiming to "own a small business" is well and truly missing the point of what a small business actually is.

Little too much doomscrolling in this topic as of late.

Doom and gloom is the Dem way. Dems always assume they're going to lose. Republicans always assume they're going to win.

It's typically worked out in our favor for the last 6 years! The last time it was reversed was in 2016.

I think it's safe to say the side with the most anxiety has won the elections a majority of the time for quite a while lol.

I'll also note that we were seeing Romney +8 national polls at this same time 12 years ago.

Youre right about garbage polling, but TIPP is not one of them. There has been a small swing among the few honest pollsters out there.

But like I said, only one poll matters so go vote. Its still possible Harris can win even with how bad her messaging has been.

I don't care about polls right now honestly. We have factual confirmation that the GOP floods data with junk polls to make themselves look better, so...

Maybe that's hypocritical, because I'd be paying more attention if polls said Dems were the clear favorite, but the difference is that Dems don't flood data with garbage. If anything, stuff showing that the GOP is in striking distance probably means that the Dems are clearly ahead right now.

I like Kamala's actually trying to give reasons to vote for her instead of just saying why not to vote for the other person only. I also think she is a more stable choice.

On the other hand, Trump being in office is probably better economically for my family and job status.

I think both are not the best options and neither is going to meaningfully change anything for the better of the country. There is ironically a huge lack of how they stand on many issues. Kamala is pandering to what people want to hear currently and all over the place changing her stances or such to what she thinks will get her elected. Trump is just avoiding mostly anything and just trashing Kamala.

Early voting tomorrow. I'm staying away from the news and polls and other bullshit that only exists to doom at this point. Gonna vote, hit the gym, and just pray America makes the right choice.

trump's stated policy goals will be ruinous for the economy lol. tariffs will artifically boost the price of imported goods, forcing people to buy previously more expensive american made goods. there will be no incentive for american manufacturers to cut their prices if people are simply strong-armed into buying their products.

trump's hardline deportation stances, on top of their moral repugnancy, would be massively damaging to multiple industries that rely on the cheap labor of undocumented immigrants. deporting a significant percentage of unskilled laborers will massively impact the speed and price of various goods, groceries being at the forefront.

there's no world in which trump policies improve economic conditions in this country.
