I feel like it was going ot be around that number from what I've seen so far. They were going hard on turning it from a CRPG into a God of War-like action combat game with more RPG elements, and I'm not sure that that's a bad thing, but I know others here will disagree.

I dunno, I found DA2 very enjoyable, and am glad they're leaning into that.

they also completely eliminated most of past choices even though several characters from previous games are going to be in it

only 3 choices are transferred over and absolutely none from the first two games

There's no excuse for that one, honestly. It's too late for me since I have to rely upon pre-gen information (my old account got corrupted I found out a few weeks back, and I'm NOT replaying three DA games, especially Inquisition, just to make sure my choice get counted. At least not any time soon), but I really feel for other people on this one. This is an actual big deal.

If DA survives another installment, I hope they remedy this for those who have invested in the series that much.

I havent played any of these games in full yet, but Im actually very excited to try this one. My son was able to get one of them on the PlayStation pass and I wanted to kind of get a feel for it and I enjoyed what I did play, but decided I would wait for the new one.

80 meta is a bit underwhelming. Will check reviews, but I'll probably still get it.

8 or 9/10 seems right.

I figured 8/10 at worst. Nothing about this game seems as bad as DA2 (which I also wound up enjoying).

Mr.MattyPlays is incredibly disappointed. He's always been a huge Bioware game fan so it's hard to see that in his opinion this is not the return to form we all expected from Bioware.

Tbh, I'm a bit surprised by that.

Seems divisive, but I'm not interested in the slightest.

Hell, even in Mass Effect 2, you could pick and choose certain outcomes from ME1 fairly early on (on the first Cerberus mission, you have to c/d some plot points, and you can override what you chose if you want).

Skill Up says he/they don't recommend it, but I don't have the time to watch the video on why.

Really hard for me to consider this game from gameplay shown and how inquisition was.

the lose of major choices from past games does sadly make sense. How many years had it been since origins and 2 were released? Most people arent going know anything from those unless they are die hard fans.

I'm listening to it now, I'm about halfway thru, so far he says the art/character design is off-putting, the writing/characterization is atrocious, and the combat is boring and drawn out. I haven't finished the whole video but that's what he summarizes at the beginning

Yeah he was, and he directly referenced that here, he basically gave the same disclaimer on this video that he did on that one. That it's just his opinion and he knows a lot of people will disagree with him

Also, to be fair, once people actually played and completed FF16, opinions became a lot more mixed, so he was a little ahead of the curve on that one

I was going to say, characterization being a negative in FFXVI was a headscratcher for me. The characterization in that game was awesome. It was the combat and dearth of RPG elements that left something to be desired.

Buying it day one no matter what but so far the reviews arnt to bad.

If I could play DA2 with no major issues I'll enjoy this as well I'm a big fan of all 3 Dragon age games regardless of what critics think.

This is what's getting me about this game so far. It looks hella divisive: people are either loving it or hating it. Little to no in-between. I understand that more nuanced takes are likely to come as the game ages and more people beat it, but it is strange seeing so many people going off one deep end or the other.

I think Skill Up is a great reviewer (the main guy, at least), with how he articulates his views, and with how comprehensive his reviews are.

however, I have found that I often disagree with him, so idk.

Wasn't the criticism moreso that it was focused mostly on Clive and not the typical party like in other FFs? I think that's fair if that's what you expect in the franchise

I'm sure no matter what, people will find something to be outraged about. Meanwhile, I'll just be playing the game.

Yeah that's how I feel. I actually have no intention of even playing this game, I just generally really like his reviews so I figured I'll listen to it anyway.

I get that a lot of people who will play weren't even born when Origins came out, buy still, that's a big disappointment.

If that was the "characterization" critique comes from then it has a little bit more credence to me, but I still find it lacking for every character not named Jill.

Yes that is true but I didn't say that. Those are the only two reviews I've personally seen so far aside from the perfect scores so I commented on them.

The first game came out in 2009, the second in 2011. Its 2024. Thats a ridiculous thing to expect from them considering the age of the series.

Yeah, if you're not gonna play the side quests, then I could see how you'd feel that way. Hell, even Torgal had his own side quest that gave a window into what the wolf dog was thinking.

And I don't know what you would even be "firing back at me," seeing as I don't agree or disagree with anything in this topic. I have no opinion on Dragon Age whatsoever and I certainly don't act like a baby if some outlet or personality agrees or disaree with my opinion on something.

Its odd that theres no remaster of this series, it really does need one, and plenty of fixes.

Same, kind of. I'm just starting the Dragon Temple now. I likely will not be done with Metaphor on time to get Veilguard at launch, but I will definitely buy it a few days after.
