Does Master Duel let you play against the CPU using your own Deck Recipes? Can you modify/ignore banlists if youre playing single-player?

No, unfortunately. CPU only uses the decks already assigned to it, and you can only turn off ban-lists in Duel Rooms.

There is a mod out there that will let you ignore banlists in single player, but I've never used it and some of its other functions are unethical enough that I wouldn't feel safe using it. >_>

I wonder if the event this month is going to be Dark VS Light, since the new chaos dragon is headlining the pack announcement. I'm also hoping that we get some Ashened cosmetics so that art won't go to waste. A Priestess icon and sleeves at the very least <_<

Cleared up my backlog of dailies before bed, actually had a decent run of luck.

It won't come to Master Duel for a while, but this Regenesis archetype coming to the OCG soon looks really interesting. It's a main deck focused, low to the ground archetype with a lot of grind game to it, like a modern power level version of U.A. or Kozmo. I'd say the closest comparison in the current meta is Voiceless Voice, but that focuses on Ritual monsters and not just plain old effect monsters.

Unlike those archetypes, which are mostly only playable pure or very limited in what they can be paired with, it looks like Regenesis can be combined with quite a few other archetypes in interesting ways. Branded, Bystials, Kashtira, Invoked, Snake-Eye, Ryzeal, Generaider, pretty much any archetype or engine that puts up a monster with 2500 original ATK or DEF could potentially be paired with Regenesis as long as you do any extra deck stuff before Torah locks you out of it for the turn. The deck can definitely be played pure, but a lot of mixed builds will come too.

The only things in the archetype that need both of those statlines are the summoning condition of Deuteronomion (which can just be filled by a different Regenesis monster or you might not even play it if you're not playing pure Regenesis) and the target of the search spell if you want to search for something other than a Regenesis monster. The summoning conditions of all the other monsters in the archetype say that they only require a monster with 2500 original ATK or DEF. You can summon stuff like Mirrorjade, Unicorn, Mechaba, Diabellstar, either of the Ryzeal Xyz monsters, any of the Bystials, etc., and have them count as the requirement to summon most of the Regenesis monsters. Hell, because they say "on the field" and not "on your field", your opponent's monster can count toward the requirement if they Bystial one of your earlier plays or if you go 2nd and they have a monster with the magic number as part of their endboard.

Oh those look really cool.

Easy to summon in my Pendulum decks which is really funny, since the Fire is basically Kirin and the Water is basically Apex Avian. Getting a blast of nostalgia there. >_> The spell isn't too useful there but it can search Odd-Eyes Wizard Dragon, the best Odd-Eyes card because it has a cool hat

Gage is fixing these packs. What on earth. 2 Ice Bells? That's how many I have in my actual account. Kash pack might need to just be banned. I prefer having pack bans. These packs are not designed for sealed. Ok nope, both Doug and MBT get the pity no-UR 10 pack, and Gage pulls like 5-6 URs this ep.

Unfortunately, Nouvelles has a really limited grind game if you don't have the field spell or Dyna Mondo to cycle spent ritual monsters back to the deck. Though yeah, there was no reason to link off the level one, when he was super sure he didn't have game anyways.

I got bored last night and watched the pack pulls for episode 8 and 9 ahead of time (didn't see who won)... I wouldn't worry too much about Doug's pulls.

Yeah at the very least the banlists completely reset the momentum. But the last 3-4 eps, he definitely didn't pull anything playable. Though sometimes I would probably criticize the pack choices.

That's also the problem with sealed and decks that don't have the generic pieces within their deck. You'd think Dyna Mondo just needs to be in like every other ritual deck packs. Same for Electrumite and Beyond the Pend for all pend decks, cuz they're literally designed assuming they exist

Also if Gage gets Crystal Wing, the next round of games is basically over. Ice Bell is just a straight up destruction immune Crystal Wing by herself, and she doesn't even freaking use a normal summon. Even if you ban Crystal Wing, you can theoretically also just get the other Windwitch lvl 8 synchro which also slaps ass in sealed.

So another theme chronicle is coming up. For whatever reason I have most of the Zombie archetypes from solo mode so I'll probably be running one of those. (Yuki-Onna!) >_>

Though the newer Lightsworn stuff just got added to secret packs...I'm tempted to get some Dragonlings and run JD turbo. Ahhh noooo. I need to save my resources for Fiendsmith and stop buying random bullshit...but it's only 4 more URs since I have everything else and I do have the dust for it...ughhhhh

The White Forest art has been calling me too though...and Azamina can go into both WF and Chimera when that drops...

I'm now cutting Lubellion, Branded Regained, and Branded Beast from my Dragon Link deck.
It is time I grow out of my dependency and fully embrace my hatred towards anything Branded.

Now you might question why I'm still Magnamhut, Druiswurm, and Baldrake, as well as Dis Pater in Extra.
Simple. Because they do not mention Branded in their text.

This is just me yapping and being questionable in my deck building choice.

In other words, Wyverburster and 3rd Quick Launch is back. I'm happy.

I gotta tell this story, just because I'm still salty about it.

So I was pulling for Evil Twin alts because Evil Twin is my #1 archetype, so this was a great excuse to try and pull some royals. (Side note: I did get a couple royals over the pack's run! Altergeist royals, which I already had a couple royals for.)

Anyway, last night, I did one final 10x, and it was the worst case scenario: no UR = guaranteed UR on my next 10x, which I had no way of scrounging up enough gems for. The worst part is, it was the one and only time over the pack's run that a 10x didn't give me a UR.

This is why I usually never pull unless I have at least 2000 gems~

...unrelated, looking at the Mulcharmies, I'm not as scared of them as I was before. They look kinda like "what Maxx C always should have been". I probably won't even bother crafting Purulia. That said...it's time. Ban Maxx C and unlimit Crossout Designator, you cowards!

The caveat for Mulcharmies being balanced in TCG was actually that Maxx C is banned. Maxx C + Mulcharmies might feel a bit oppressive, esp with Fuwaloss, which is the better one generally.

The only decks I put Fuwalos in are my blind 2nd decks (Tenpai, Sky Striker, Zoodiac, Mikanko, etc.) because it's such a brick going 1st in BO1, and I didn't even craft Purulia yet. The only deck I might put Purulia in is Tearlaments, because even if it's a brick, at least it's an Aqua so it can be used for fusion material. And I do agree, the Mulcharmies are fair if Maxx C isn't in the game with them, but oppressive if they're all together.

Maybe they're planning to add some kind of HERO structure deck soon (possibly replacing Swordsoul as the reward for the new/returning player code campaign) and Neos will be in it, so there's no point in having it clog up a UR slot in that pack too.

There are still more counters to Maxx C than the number of Maxx C itself, though.

Fuwaros evens the number.

Also Fuwaros can still be used even if you Shifter previously, which is something Maxx C cannot.

On a side note, February - March banlist (when the pack expires) should be the time.

Yeah Shifter is at 1 now though. Honestly it's a card that you can't really reliably play around in general unless your deck naturally has the lines. You could always just chain Maxx C to Shifter anyways.

Japan liked to run 2-3 Fuwaloss 1 Purulia when Maxx C was at 3. TCG kinda does a lot of variations but Fuwaloss is almost always at 3. 1-2 Purulia main deck was still preferable to adding more Ash or Droll or something. But I think over time, people rarely ever mained 6 Mulcharmies and actually did well with them. Maxx C completely skews that formula to sometimes require more than 6 Maxx Cs.

The problem with this is that Ash and Called Bys/Crossouts aren't always optimal. Crossout actually becomes stronger through time, but people cut out Called Bys in the later formats despite the Mulcharmies. That's cuz Maxx C is a must negate and Mulcharmies actually let you play around them, which doesn't absolutely require you to Called By it. Crossout has more utility than that and also later insulates boards from Nib. I wouldn't mind seeing Crossout come to 2-3 in MD. I think it's a decent skill expression card

The Mulcharmies are much better in best-of-3 formats when you can side them out if you're going 1st or in if you're going 2nd. But in a best-of-1 format, if you're playing a deck that wants to go 1st, then they're a brick in half of your games. They're competing for spots with other "it's a brick if you go first but amazing if you go 2nd" blowouts like Lightning Storm, Evenly Matched, Dark Ruler No More, etc., and there are other options that aren't a total brick when going 1st like Forbidden Droplet and (of course) Maxx C.

Unless you're playing a blind 2nd deck or a deck that has a lot of discard costs, the brickiness of cards of Fuwalos just isn't worth it when Maxx C exists and doesn't have that problem. If Maxx C were banned, then that risk would be much more worth taking.

Being completely dead in half your duels is not a good enough selling point imo, esp when there's a going 2nd in the top meta

I think if Maxx C is banned you might as well forgo the Mulcharmies and use 3x Forbidden Droplet instead.

It's just not worth it in best of 1.

Hilariously the 1 duel where Mulcharmy wasn't dead in the stream I watched...

It was Tenpai who basically passed with threatening roar pass. Then the shotgun roar + mulch actually did secure the game.

What I know of the future metas though is that half of your deck needs to be hand traps. I guess we're already kinda there with SEFK and Tenpai, but it's basically just gonna be every deck now

Which also tragically means PUNKs, despite their support, are still not tournament viable... Orcusts become OP later because they got a Link-1. Blue Eyes got meta cuz they got a Link-1.

I just don't like this pattern at all. I'm also salty they didn't make the PUNK support quite what they needed, which as I've said was a quick play spell that lets you tag out a PUNK, which gives them an ability to fight hand traps.

Also, shit like emperor Charles is terrible game design. Oh, you thought it was copying an effect? It's actually got a completely hidden spell negate that you have to jump through hoops to view.

Well that's a problem with MD UI that I dunno they'll ever fix. If the effect is added, it should add to the text of the card rather than replace it, since the original Charles effect is still on as you said.

But yes, it's a big skill check where people just try to throw like 3 spells and I negate them all lol

Yeah, 'it gains this card's effect' can be hard to notice.

Tooltip should be able to solve it as long as it is intuitive enough.

It'd be much better if it was a Ghost Girl. At least they are Lv 3.

Now that I think of it, the wind Ghost Girl can synergize with Taketomborg, if only that.

Honestly felt worse that the first good hand I got today was against Blue Eyes which... as expected does absolutely nothing.

Simply another Red-Eyes name with good effects, even if it's just special summoning itself, that you can play with is a good reason.

It is kind of a brick if you don't draw a (good) set-able card, but having more good Red-Eyes Lv 7 name means Red-Eyes can also use their own Pot of Greed (it requires Lv 7 Red-Eyes in hand, then optionally can send another Lv 7 Red-Eyes to GY).

Also RE Metal Claw makes RE Soul better as long as you already used your Metalmorph card.

RE Soul is a Havnis-like card that lets you ss a Red-Eyes from deck. The problem is that there was NO good Red-Eyes to be summoned.

RE Metal Claw on ss at least lets you reuse the Metalmorph card you just spent for the next turn.

You can send your set Black Metal Dragon with the new Red Eyes to summon him and also get a search. Not sure how easy it is to have Max Metalmorph face up when you do this though

Simply brick with Red-Eyes Fullmetal and Max Metalmorph searcher in the hand, lol.

Saw Josh's attempt at playing Ashened lol. Man I didn't realize the deck was just that bad. In the future maybe there's some potential at being a good anti-field spell tech but as a deck, they have no future. I think the way the 2800 dragon is printed basically prevents them from ever being viable. It could be cool if they had a strong backrow that supplies themselves, but they don't, so you try to leave monsters on the field and the dragon just blows them all up, leaving you with 0 interactions. I mean thematically cool, won't ever deny them that, but it's also possible to make them viable and thematically cool. I just think TCG exclusives have some clause that prevents them from being both cool and viable. Just gotta choose one, I dunno.

I mean torrential tribute is still a card that doesn't require big combos and don't see use anymore. Heck, Ghost Ogre basically does the anti-field spell job well enough already as well.

Josh's small side quip about Albaz the Ashen being the best Ashen card in the game was hysterical though lmao

I think my main decks are going to be the Lightsworn Loaner, various Zombie builds, Harpies (Thrust isn't banned lmao), and...PendMages has...surprisingly little of its core hit. Gonna definitely try and make them work

Ritual Beasts are at their full (2015) power, might give them a whirl too.

Their board wipe into big dragon play is really fun but yeah it's sad that that's the only thing they have and any modern deck can survive/extend past that. At least the fusion dragon's animation looks pretty >_>
