Ritual Beasts are a top 2 deck right now. It's top 2 Tenpai and RBs, and it's a big ol blob below that. Yubels are still strong, Kashtiras are still strong, Branded is still playable, SEFK is still SEFK, Centurions are a very strong t3, etc.

A lot of powerful decks, and my girls RB are somehow a top of that. But I don't think they're strong enough to face any direct bans. Lara limits would be extremely harsh since that would outright kill the deck, and Cannahawk limit is a fucking meme that shouldn't have lasted that long. Cannahawk limit esp now basically doesn't change anything. You can run him at 1 right now and it would only affect the deck a tiny bit, since they have plenty of other Rampengu targets now. It just makes the deck slightly vulnerable to... I dunno a very well timed Ghost Ogre?

They can ban Protos and Shifter, but it turns out the very top players weren't even playing them. The top most RB list somehow just played Iron Curtain and Solemn Judgment over the Protos package, which is fucking wild. Another list way below also played Eschatos instead of Protos, which shuts down Tenpais.

The idea behind the Theme Chronicle event is that it focuses on archetypes that have story gates in the solo mode. Any archetype that's above a certain power level but doesn't have a story gate has hits to either weaken it or make it completely unplayable, and a lot of generic staples not tied to these archetypes were hit too. I guess Shaddolls were considered to be "low power" enough that they didn't get any hits, but they should have at least banned Winda because it's an unfun floodgate.

I wonder how Invoked Shaddoll would be for this event. It was the first MD deck I made, so I'm a bit nostalgic for it, but it also did struggle against Eldlich, which is probably gonna be fairly common.

This list is decent. It's much worse without Charles, let's face it, but it can still put up several interruption and at minimum, 1 Towers.

My test hands, somehow in 20 hands in the current build, 0 bricks, 60% hands played through Ash/Imperm. You can't reliably play through Nib, and Droll is scary but not impossible. It doesn't give that much draw to Purulia but Fuwalos is scary, except if they Fuwa, then I can actually just end on a single ED mon

This event is the one where I think the community is gonna realize how mid the Mulchs are if they're not playing one of those Ninepais or whatever

Nvm this deck fucking sucks. I think the pay off comes too late. The best you can hope for is Ultimate Flame + Angelica + Gearfried. I think I'm gonna try to rebuild to gear towards the Flame Swordsman side, but I may not want to craft the cards for it lol. It's crazy how much the lack of Charles kills the pay off. All the other payoffs are so mid

I see Flame Swordsman is unlimited.

It's decent for Infernoble Knights because you can basically make it a towers with actual attack points. But yeah in testing maybe it's not as good. It recurs the Infernoble that banishes when it leaves the field

The potential is definitely there, and it's a fairly durable Towers all things considered. Harpie's without Charles is basically a death knell and this guy singlehandedly makes it a non-issue, providing you can buff it enough

Funny little interaction I had

Jank hand, but salvageable. Opponent Imperms my Electrumite. I chain Crossout, forgetting that the only copy of Imperm is already in my hand. So my turn ends on set Imperm pass.

Turn 2, they normal summon Dora Dora, I chain Imperm, they scoop.

So happy with the Tenpai hits. >_>

Though I also lost another game because I activated my Z-Arc trap forgetting I had put Odd-Eyes on my scale (so it couldn't be used as material and Z-Arc didn't get its board wipe). So the lesson today is, pay attention to where my cards are lol.

I feel like UDF is even less and less used in my Goblin PUNK.

The Goblins are impressive addition, but UDF line is once in a blue moon.

I cannot wait for Rising Scales and JAM FEVER.

I've had multiple cases where a single defense mode UDF solo'd Tenpais etc. I still think it's preferable to leaving Big Gabonga on the field. Big Gabonga is cool but he's also reliant on other things, like attaching a gob to himself at the end phase or having a material left on the field, which may not always happen. UDF is more reactive and completely shuts out more things.

Btw I highly recommend watching the King of Games series by Cimo. It is probably the funniest YGO competitive series out there. Ep 3 was so peak cuz it actually highlighted well how far goat format has come where the goat is a bit of a misnomer.

There was legitimate trashtalking after the ep aired, which is even more hysterical. MBT and Gage were cookin'. I feel like I maybe don't give Gage enough credit. I don't think he's a good deck builder, but he can play. He takes forever, but at least it actually gets somewhere when he finally makes the play

Spent 30 UR to get Light & Darkness Dragonlord.

Ended up just making use of Dark End to get Borreload Furious Dragon.

The requirement for Dark End/Light End to banish Lv 8 from extra is pretty heavy in my dragon pile.dek. Not to mention there aren't many, if at all, Lv 8 dragon that says 'if this card is banished...'.

What the fuck are these bans lmao... Ok RIP Fabled for the rest of this season. 3 Time Thief bans seem like a bit too much. Wait no limits?

Pulls: Shout outs to the guy in MBT's chat who rightfully mentioned Gustos are undefeated in Saga. Holy fuck, Doug got Tearlaments. Bait? Hasn't it been like stupid strong nearly every single time anybody's gone into it? Oh crap... Alambertian and Super Factorial for Gage with a big rank 4 pool? Oh my god... MBT might get Umi Stun? That's so scary. Doug goes into Tears. I swear he's gonna pull crazy and then just not play the deck. The problem is he doesn't play a better deck he has in favor of a significantly worse deck. He's been doing this a lot in the last few seasons for some reason.

Shocked they didn't ban Wall Shadow, but yeah S-Force isn't really that good imo. Even with summoning the Link-3, it's just not really that crazy.

MBT v Doug: HOLY ok yeah that's already gg no? I think it was a long time coming where Unending Nightmare just solos a deck. Wow Joseph does have a line but it's really rough. I guess Sea Stealth wasn't considered Umi fast enough?

The Lightsworn loaner isn't too shabby. Enlightenment Dragon is too much fun to resolve >_>

PendMages feel really difficult to get going, but Odd-Eyes still feel smooth, so I'll be using them to get my Pendulum fix.

Gonna break out my zombie decks later tonight after some more playtesting, I haven't used them since back when Chaos Ruler was still legal lol

Involving BIG GABONGA as a way to Isolde, then dump Durendal for Renaud who fetch it back then can get Flame Swordsman Lv 4.

Fought against Cubic who stalled for 20 turns then I lost because the fucker just had Droplet which allow the face down in Imperm's column, which happened to be Fusion, to fusion into Crimson Nova Trinity who then punched me for 9k.

Event's off to a decent start for me and my Kozmo deck. 4-4 record, but 1 of those 4 wins was a Lightsworn player going too ham and decking themselves out rather than me actually beating them. Oh well, we take those.

Goddamn, check out my Flame Swordsman vs Ashened gameplay 043-369-854. It's so fucking ill it's insane. I basically just outplayed the guy at nearly every turn.

I'm 5-0 with it for now, but that duel made me nervous

So far I'm doing alright with Invoked Shaddoll, but playing my deck from three years ago does put into perspective how much the game's sped up since then. Mechaba + Winda is still enough for a lot of decks though.

Realizing now that Gold Pride PUNK is also mostly untouched (RIP Deer Note). Might end up switching to that partway through the event and see how that deck measures up in this meta. Probably need to get some use out of that deck - I only ever really used it for that one proficiency mission to win duels below 2000 LP.

Spoilers, I... crash into the opponent twice, and that's basically what lets me win the duel lmao.

Tbf Flame Swordsman does have a few 1-card combo to Ultimate Flame Swordsman, even more if you play Durendal and a way to Isolde.

Yeah though without Charles, it's still significantly weaker as a deck. You basically go from a board that can't lose to a board that has to fight everything out pretty fairly to actually close out the game.

I'm running a lot of hand trap even despite going over 40, but the deck is honestly kinda lacking without those hand traps. Mulcharmies have drawn me maybe like 2 cards in 13 duels, but they've been great fodder to ditch to summon Flame Swordsman

Isn't that pretty much how Jounouchi worked? Everyone else isn't playing fair; he is the most fair in DM era and thus the best.

Haven't tried it in ranked but in theory using your Big Gabonga strat with M-X Saber - Heroic should allow Isolde, and UDF or FA Dark Knight Lancer plays to provide more option before Flame Swordsman hit the board.

Or TWO FA Dark Knight Lancers, because neither it nor Xyz Armor Fortress are hard once per turn. I do need clarification whether it is possible to summon Armor Fortress again by ranking up a Rank 3, though.

Yeah I've always liked Joey over the other protags but in hindsight, his deck was really janky, and his main boss monster was almost always Jinzo after he got Jinzo. Though with a monster like Jinzo, he had no business struggling against Odion

Btw, I run 3 Ready Fusion. It has come up in 2 of the duels. I run 2 Flame Swordsman, and that's been a perfect number. I've used both copies so many times

That link kinda suck. Sure it allows you to ss a warrior if destroyed, but Duelittle Chimera is better imo (and works for all fire instead of just warrior). If only for theming then Ferocious Flame Swordsman is okay I guess?

That link won me the game on the Earth Machines replay. The best thing about that link is that on death it recurs either the big Flame Swordsman or Gearfried. It's hard to imagine winning those games without him

It comes up a lot because the deck without Charles has 0 protection against board wipes, aside from maybe equipping Ogier, which is sometimes hard to do cuz you might have to use him as a fodder.

Ah, yeah, yours are heavier on Infernoble so it's easier to summon Ferocious Flame Swordsman.

I just went on an 11-game losing streak with Kozmo before I finally got a win. I have no other decks that are playable in the event, I don't like any of the loaners, and I'm sick of watching players jerk off with Lightsworn and Rikka loaner combos because those two decks are basically all I face. This might be the first event in a while that I just don't bother finishing, because this is fucking awful.

The saddest thing is that there are multiple decks I had in the past that would have worked for this event, but I dismantled them a while ago. I might have to rebuild one or two of those.

Yeah I just scoop if I'm going second against Lightsworn and have no out to Enlightenment + Aegis >_>

Can't seem to figure out a workable Zombie World deck but I did manage to get Skull Servants and Mayakashi going. Getting KoSS to 10,000 and beating over the Buster Blader link felt good. I really hate Buster Blader lol.

I even ended up doing a jank Mayakashi/Skull Servant Mashup. If you go first you do the Mayakashi combo, and if you go second you bone them. The mills from Wight Lord also help set up Mayakashi a bit, while one archetype can usually bait the ash/imperm for the other. It's far from "good" but it's funny when it works. (I just have to remember if I use Linkuriboh to get SS going I can't us Dakki's synchro chain)

I also did an absolutely toxic game against Ninjas with my Harpie deck where I Feather Stormed them two turns in a row. So maybe I shouldn't complain about Buster Blader. <_<

There's plenty of removal that doesn't target or destroy though.

If there is, I haven't seen it yet in this event. It's gotta be a non targetting tribute or return or whatever. People aren't running Kaijus cuz it's not really a 1 boss mon format, and it's not like I'm only ending on Avramax, which basically makes any other jank solutions moot.

Either way, yeah so far out of about 20 duels, IP Avramax essentially lost once. I didn't even notice the going second win mission because I've won so many duels both going first and second

Also have you guys seen that Ursarctic field? I think 2 people in the whole world gasmed at how good that field is. Why does Konami constantly remember that archetype exists when it's like one of the worst archetypes ever made?

It doesn't really have any grave or banish plays, I guess. Most good decks use one or the other as a second hand. >_>

More ways to access and protect Shining Sarcophagus itself. Any deck that depends on a certain spell card (especially when it's not a field spell since those are more easily searchable) being active to function will struggle when it doesn't have access to it. It needs at least two more cards that can search out Shining Sarcophagus from the deck, pull one from the graveyard or banishment, protect it from being destroyed/banished, or whose name counts as Shining Sarcophagus when face-up on the field. The monsters themselves are pretty darn good when you can access that spell, but the deck turns into a bunch of bricks when you can't.

They're only good in blind 2nd decks and formats without Maxx C like the current event. Aside from that, just play Maxx C.

No they're pretty bad even when Maxx C is banned. They're gonna be good for Tenpais no matter what, but I dunno what they do in a bo1 in every other decks. Fuwalos gonna be pretty good for the Fiendsmith format because a lot of monsters come out by default from the ED, and I won't deny that. But they're way too easy to play around compared to Maxx C. Right now, I'd rather see one more eff veiler or imperm in my hand, and no, Mulchs don't become more eff veilers or imperms

I legitimately want to know how many cards you guys drew off the Mulcharmies this entire event.
