A former campaign manager to former President Barack Obama has warned that early voting numbers are 'scary' for Vice President Kamala Harris.

Jim Messina, who was Obama's campaign manager in 2012, said in an interview on MSNBC that data has shown Republicans making significant gains in early voting in battleground states.

Asked what the Harris campaigns biggest concerns are, he said, "The early vote numbers are a little scary."

Messina added that, the early vote totals have caused lots of his friends to call him "panicking," when comparing the data to that of the 2020 election.

"Republicans didn't do what they did last time," he said. "Last time, Trump told his don't vote early so they didn't. Republicans do have an advantage in early vote numbers. When the early votes come in, it's going to look a little bit different than 2020 and that's scary."

Early voting turnout appears to have increased among registered Republicans, in a shift from 2020. In this election cycle, the Republican Party has advised voters to cast early ballots.

Basically she's getting less early votes than Biden got in 2020, while Trump is getting more early votes than he got in 2020 (though he remains far behind), and 2020 still became very close in the swing states on election day.

If I'm not mistaken most early republican voters are people who voted for years ago, just since early voting is less demonized by the right they voted early. Likewise with democrats because there no deadly pandemic going on more people decided to wait until election day. Yes these two changes seem scary but might not be with all the context.

Considering the Harris campaign said they're happy with the EV numbers and we haven't had leaks of insiders dooming (unlike 2016) I'm going to trust Harris over Newsweek and an out of the loop Obama era staffer.

Also one of the best things about a possible Harris victory is going to be Diceheist going full mask off.

these vote counts just count registered/likely voters, not who they actually voted for

many, many independent/unaffiliated voters have cast votes too

many, many independent/unaffiliated voters have cast votes too
And a confirmed larger number of those GOP votes are voters who voted on election day in 2020. You can't vote twice (legally) so the chuds are blowing their election day load earlier.

In terms voter enthusiasm, Harris has a significant lead over Trump, the poll was like 78-68 (Harris-Trump).

I can't tell if we're all just memeing or if this really needs to be explained.

He's using "scary" in an artificial sense of the word, like how it was scary in 2020 that most states counted Trump's votes first making it look like he was winning big. But that wasn't actually true.
