Marco Rubio says he is against Gaza ceasefire

Marco Rubio told pro-Palestine protesters that he did not want a ceasefire in Gaza and that Israel should destroy every element of Hamas they can get their hands on in a video that has reemerged since he became Donald Trumps pick for secretary of state.

translation: he thinks eveey last person in Gaza is a member of Hamas and he wants them all dead

If you're making the argument that the people who withheld their vote over Gaza swung the election then your ire should be directed at Kamala and her campaign for being so weak on the subject. If you don't think they swung the election then what are you complaining about exactly?

What's wrong with wanting politicians to actually represent your interests?

Like I've always advocated that people should vote and to vote for the lesser evil. That said though the idea of blaming the potential voters over the politicians who fucked up is just ridiculous. Shaming people is not a great tactic to increase voter turnout.

Like I've always advocated that people should vote and to vote for the lesser evil. That said though the idea of blaming the potential voters over the politicians who fucked up is just ridiculous. Shaming people is not a great tactic to increase voter turnout.

Single issue voters on both sides are inherently selfish voters, IMO. You can have an incredibly just issue that you are passionate about. To make that the only thing you care about and refuse to vote for what will clearly be BETTER for your cause because it isn't exactly what you want makes you selfish.

Anyone who claims to be huge supporters of Palestine and those in the Gaza Strip who are being wiped out in a brutal genocide and chose not to vote because Harris did not "earn" their vote were incredibly miopic and tossed aside a better option because it wasn't the BEST.

Yeah, the worst thing about the single issue Gaza voters is they clearly weren't paying any attention to what the candidates were actually saying. Not to mention they also failed to recognized that Harris was stuck in a position where she couldn't speak badly about Israel or risk losing the election due to the fact majority of the US supports Israel.

The Democratic Party has to earn the votes of every group of disenfranchised people in the United States? They have to simultaneously show every. single. disenfranchised group of people their intricate plans of how to better their daily lives, explain how they are going to police the world to ensure that more genocide does not happen for each localized conflict, as well as how that will ultimately stimulate the economy, create jobs in America, while keeping the nation safe?

I don't know how you do that. And if those are the metrics by which the Democrats have to earn the votes, the right simply voting against all of that while certain marginalized groups decide not to vote will mean largely that the Dems lose. Repeatedly. For likely a long time.

I'm not saying that progress is impossible, or that the Dems are even a "great" option most of the time. As an outsider (I'm Canadian), this was literally WOMEN'S RIGHTS being attacked, amongst all other marginalized groups in the nation, and that is not enough to give the Dems a shot to even keep the status quo.

To teach the Dems a lesson you would condemn millions of people, both in the US and around the world, to at LEAST 4 years of fear, poverty, and potential death.

That is selfish.

It's not my intention to shame. Voting is in itself a selfish thing. You are voting for your own interests, whether that is to better your own situation or the situation of others around you, but I will admit to being hostile in my posts. I apologize for that.

Enclave, as someone who did vote for the lesser of two evils, how would you go about trying to explain to passionate people like yourself who did chose to not vote for POTUS? I can't speak to personal experience being from another country but it seems there were a lot of people rallying on social media about refusing to vote for either presidential candidate as neither earned their vote on account of the lack of meaningful policy on Palestine.

How would you talk with them to express your concerns with that approach?

Encourage people, lift them up, try to get them to feel good about voting for your candidate. Don't shame them as you'll just further disaffect them. I get that it's WAY easier and feels way better to insult and shame people but all that is doing is pushing them further away which is exactly the opposite of what you should want.

I constantly told people they needed to vote for Harris if they cared about the future of Gaza. I told people Trump would be worse by every measure.
