A Lot of cowardly writing with all the death fakeouts and (almost) none of them sticking. Like Meuniere is literally shot in both the head and heart and somehow makes it 5 days *in the Chaldea hangar* before they reclaim the infirmary and then he's good as new. that's some True Magic level bullshit there.

On the other hand, it also has the absolute greatness that is the soccer match against U-Olga with voiced commentator Kotomine. "NO! MADAM PRESIDENT, GO HOME!"

The Lostbelt map effects are also peak. Normal Battle Theme also aces but I already knew that. Same, but even more, for the last battle of 7.1 which is just very cool.

For some reason I struggled with that Talos/Dioscuri fight a LOT. Took me like 4 losses before I threw EMIYA/Castoria up there and just bombed them with Unlimited Blade Works lol

Olympus has some really hard fights.

Okay I thought maybe I'd just become bad at the game somehow. I lost to one of the Poseidon cores because I'm complacent and just relying on brute strength for some fights, but this one really took me by surprise. Morgan was not the move.

I remember the early Talos fight being a wake-up call. Olympus in general definitely is one, yeah.

Looking ahead at GSSR choices. I was probably gonna try for Koyan but I got her already. If Morgan's banner had ONE less unit on it I'd probably try for her NP4.

I still always come back to my lack of a good AoE Rider, so I'll probably roll on that. I really want Iskandar but Ivan is good too. I liked using Bakin during the doggo event and Da Vinci Rider has been good every time I've used a support version.

The Melu/Eresh banner is also rather tempting but I'm good on Lancers.

Man, Kirchstaria going through the singularities with each of the Crypters and learning about them as deeply as he did and having to keep it a secret, it makes so much sense why he treats all of them the way he does.

But it doesn't make sense why he would let himself get got by Beryl.

He should've known full well what that snake was thinking

There's a lot going on there on basically all sides. I'd probably revisit that once you complete Olympus.

That'll get explained a bit more in LB6

Dealing with Demeter right now. I liked all the story exposition, my favorite bit was Kirchstaria and Zeus being bros with each other. Maybe Zeus isn't exactly so bad. The Foreign God kind of has them both by the balls in one way or another.

I absolutely love how there's all these competing interests converging on the same point. None of them are taking Chaldea seriously enough which has surely never gone wrong for anyone before, right

Well this Demeter fight made my mind up. My lack of good Riders is KILLING me.

I figured out you basically need to sac your front line with her NP.

Demeter was arguably the hardest boss in the game pre-LB6. Definitely not a pushover.

I lost like 15 times before I figured out that you just need to get her first bar done and sac your front line.

Definitely nice to be challenged by a fight for what seems like the first time in a while.

Yeah, Demeter is no joke probably the hardest fight in the Lostbelt and definitely a contender for "the story to that point"

Demeter is rough. It's worth noting that there are fantastic 3-star rider options available in Ushi and Mandricardo. Don't neglect your f2ps!

I happened to have just leveled Mandricardo because he was so dope in Atlantis. He was part of wave one that got her first bar down.

Ushi and Herc were back line and did the work for me on her last two bars. I've had Ushi leveled up to 80 since my first few months in the game.

wtf was the point of that Aphrodite chapter? Very weird her bantering with Koyanskaya and then arguing with Pepe.

The real point was watching Pepe's fabulous self roasting the goddamn goddess of love

Pepe is absolutely one of the high points of these lostbelts. Not looking forward to LB6 in that regard

I'm just gonna say it: Pepe is the best character in the entire franchise

GSSR: Rolled ST Assassins because King Hassan and MHX would both place really high on a "Servant I don't have, but want" list and Kama NP2 wouldn't be bad. Got the "Now Loading..." and was hype. ...Yan Qing NP1 followed by Kama NP2.

argh. I knew the moment Yan Qing showed up I had been had.

Got Kotomine in 28 tickets though so that softens it a little. Still pouting though. Will likely try to NP5 my currently NP3 Fujino in a few days when she comes up on the banner with Koyanskaya of the Dark, hopefully that goes kindly.

I need to wait for tomorrow to do my GSSR but I am still sold on AoE Rider. Da Vinci is my absolute least wanted out of that. I'd be hyped for Bakin and Ivan... I would be THRILLED for Iskandar.

Also jesus christ random BEAST OF HUMANITY fight thrown in there. I was not ready to have to beat Koyanskaya on the fly like that lol

That Koyanskaya fight in Olympus is probably one of my favorite in FGO from a mechanics standpoint. They pack so much stuff in there that's just so cool.

The music changing with every break bar to incorporate the music from each of the respective Lostbelts to that point (and just being a great boss theme in general), that the break bar corresponding to SIN/LB3 actually hurts her because of how terribly that Lostbelt went for her, how - at the time of release - Tamamo was the sole Servant that navigated all the unique strengths/weaknesses of her Beast Class to be the only Servant in the game that had full Class Advantage against her both offensively and defensively (and can solo her.) Just a great designed fight for intertwining story into themechanics IMO.

Without a doubt, the Olympus Koyan fight is phenomenally designed. I never caught that the music changes correspond to the lostbelt phase!

Frankly, I think all the Olympus fights in general are (with one mediocre exception later on, and even then it had a cool mechanical concept -- and yes, I even like Demeter's fight).

I got Ivan with my GSSR. My second choice, but still fills a very necessary void in my roster. I got another NP level for Marie and NP4 Red Hare on it as well lol

Dang, Ivan has a skill to remove buffs? That's pretty good.

I think that on top of reducing Buster resist will make him go well with most of the rest of my powerful servants. Morgan and Arcueid using their NPs after him will be nutty.

Yeah, buff removal (and especially on a skill) is really good and helps in a lot of fights. Kiara is another one who has party-wide buff removal on a skill (after you do her Rank Ups.)

Aphrodite fight was a joke compared to Demeter, though I think they wanted it to be that way.

Charm locked her with Kama lol

Kama specifically is a hard counter because she's charm-immune, so none of Aphrodite's follow-up bullshit can land on her

Bruh Ivan is a fuckin MONSTER.

I have gone almost a full year on this account without a strong AOE Rider hahah. Caster waves were always kind of a pain.

And just as I suspected, Morgan and Arc LOVE him. "Oh you don't like Buster hits now? I'm afraid I've got some bad news. Also those buffs you just put on? I don't think so."

Ivan NP's and uses his buff-removal the turn before I use Morgan's third skill. Those buster crits MELT HP bars

I didn't even THINK about pairing him with Herc until just now lmaooooo.

Oh right, you may have already seen it with the monthly shop reset - but make sure to hit up the Mana Prism shop. New Years adds a bunch of stuff there - generally at a big discount compared to the monthly shop - for about 10 days.

Most notable is the 10 tickets but the Grab Bag has a bunch of goodies, including a Bond Grail which would otherwise cost you Rare Prisms.

Took the night off work and powering through Olympus. Beat the Dioscuri, very satisfying having Caenis deliver the final blow even though I needed a team full of Archers to set her up for the alley oop. EMIYA, Gil, Baobahn Sith, and Billy the Kid is a pretty solid list of Archers IMO.

You had Caenis kill the Dioscuri through class disadvantage to get his payback? Based af, dude, I wish I'd had him at the time to do the same.

Just as a support. I had to do it for the story, especially coz I haven't been using Caenis support, been using Musashi for every mission because... I know I won't be able to for much longer. :( :( :(

This journey started a year ago because of it, but I am finally ready for Lostbelt 6.

Goosebumps just thinking about it. Should probably give it a week or so before I jump into that. Let LB5 digest.

You should probably do 5.5 first though. Heian-Kyo or whatever it's called. It used to be mandatory but they changed it a while back so you can go right to LB6 from Olympus instead.

It's by far the weakest Part 2 story IMO but like... it very much is part of the story. If it didn't appear on the main screen right after Olympus then check the Main Interlude tab since that's where it ends up so maybe it just starts there now idk. It's shorter than the Lostbelts though if there's any saving grace. At least, I recall it being shorter.

6.5 (Traum) is in a similar boat with how it isn't technically mandatory for LB7 but you very much want to play that one because LB7 literally starts right where Traum ended. Like, basically you pick up where the final scene of Traum left off.
