If we take the average of a galaxy having 100 billion stars, and each star having an average of 5 planets, and presume that 10% of the galaxy's planets can sustain life, and 1% of them do have life in some form, and 1% of those planets indeed have life forms with intelligence higher than an insect, and 1% of those planets with intelligent life are comparable to humans, and 1% of them are more advanced than we are.
If my math is rightand it actually might not bethe galaxy would have 50 000 planets with life forms smarter than us.
