that was practically the only time he even mentioned anything remotely to do with identity politics at all throughout his 47 minute review. he spent the rest of the time shitting all over the dragon age game for not being a dragon age game, and just being a downright bad game for pretty much everything except for the background music.

the game is decent, but I struggle to get into the story. The most interesting so far is that one of my companion has a pet griffon.

Yes, that's the highlight of my playthrough so far

I've played 30 hours of it and I just can't any more.

The story is literally going nowhere. I've done so many quests with my companions and their development is going no where.

The writing, especially the dialogue, is abysmal. They repeat the same thing over and over. And I can't even roleplay rook. Hell just say some corny shit all the time on his own.

The combat is fun. But the progression is badly paced. I don't even think I'm half way through the story and I've already unlocked all the abilities for my build. So the rest of the games combat is gonna get stale and boring. I guess the good thing is I can respec at any time and try different builds. But then again, there's no point in roleplaying a certain type of character and build.

The exploration is decent enough.

3/10 might be a bit harsh. But I don't think the game deserves any better than a 6.

To be fair to Joe. He's not IGN

He uses the ful spectrum. A 5/10 is actually average. Not 8/10

I don't see the argument that it's an above average game myself. Pretty much every modern RPG is better

I watched half of it. I don't watch any of his other content other than his videogame reviews usually though I suppose I don't find them as entertaining anymore like most things. (I never cared about movie critics tbh). He spent most of the review of what I saw saying that the game is nothing like the old Dragon Ages. And how the people who made it don't even know anything about what made it good. He also slammed the new character designs of old characters, the repetitive dialogue and gameplay. How major companies games these days make games rated for adults, but treat people who play them like children. He didn't even focus on the "identity policies/wokeness" or any of the stuff these games get slammed for the day they come out that I recall in any real detail. I actually was going to watch the rest of it so I might as well.

I think it just sticks out because Dragon Age a series was known for its great writing and sarcastic assholes.

So when they go full Suicide Squad killed the Justice League, it sticks out

So he mentioned something about identity and pro nouns literally two minutes later after I stopped the video. It was story related though and how they messed that up in their own story. Not just the things ppl like being upset about, the usual things I hear about like just the options for creating a character.

Anyhow it has its amusing moments, but *shrugs* the opening skit while I get he was really hammering home to a point of some exaggeration how repetitive the dialogue was, was about as annoying as those two gods sound in their story. It's not worth looking up how to spell them correctly. Well that's it. I meant to watch the rest of it anyway. So I probably forgot if he made some throwaway comment early, but 95 percent of the video is about what I mentioned in my original post with definitely some better skits in it after the first one.

Anyone who likes Angry Joe has horrible tastes.

the thing is, AJ also spoils the story of the games in his reviews; so that assumes that you're already familiar with the story or that you don't care about it.

that's why I stopped watching his reviews years ago.

I agree with this post, story and dialogue are pretty meh but combat and exploration are pretty decent so far. But yea Im still missing like 3 party members but have all of my combat abilities / the points to refund and try another build so I can see it getting stale pretty quickly.

Definitely a perfectly adequate game not a 3/10. Would put it 6 or 7/10.

This is maybe the worst aspect of the game's pacing. The companions are good but they don't really start to get interesting until about 40 hours which is like halfway through the game if you're not rushing the story. I liked them all a lot by the end but it takes SO long before the companions really affirm themselves character wise.

If they did a sequel I think they should bring them all back because by the time the game ends is when you're actually invested in them.

Probably nothing besides the occasional quiet stream. He was a favorite back then and it's sad how far he fell even if it was from his own doing and crappy attitude.

He used to be decent and maybe relevant, but now he just releases his videos a month after all other reviews and copies what everyone else said.
I remember in the past he reviewed a movie the first night, he loved it and praised it then awhile later changed his review on it all to match what everyone else said. Which they all hated it

Game was like a 4/10 or 5/10 for me. Which was what I expected from modern BioWare. Very sad how EA ruined them like they do with just about all the development studios theyve bought.

It was his first Souls game, and he streamed gis first playsession of it. The Souls fans on his stream did the usual Souls fan thing, and raked him over the coals like a bunch of assholes when he wasn't immediately great at the game. I was already not interested in this game since watching Act Man dunk on it. The writing looks absolutely terrible. Dragon Age is a cursed series, only Origins was any good.

Joe gave BG3 a 9/10 solo and a 10/10 coop score so he can't be all bad.
