The one piece of this show I struggle to reconcile is why Republic credits are even particularly valuable. Like it can't be some inherent or material value, a major plot point of Episode One is that Republic credits have no value on Tatooine and that was when the Old Republic still existed. Did the New Republic just go back to using Old Republic currency when the Empire fell? That seems like it would also be unfeasible.

Like I get that a pirate story needs a treasure. I just think a better treasure could have worked.

Honestly I like that ending. Like it didn't quite wrap up every last thing with a bow but I think that's good in a way.

I also appreciate the character of Jod for not being a complete asshole. Adds some depth to him.

Oh and besides my fairly minor nitpick, I really enjoyed the show. Which surprised me because I had absolutely zero hype for it going in. So right now Disney+ is batting two for two on Star Wars shows that I had no hype for being really enjoyable.

Now if only they could pull off that same quality on shows that initially got me hyped going in.

The Old Republic was set 25,053 BBY until 1000 BBY. (BBY= Before Battle of Yavin...which is from A New Hope) TPM takes place 32 BBY. So as you can see the credits that you are talking about being worthless in TPM are from another era. The credits that are so valuable in the Skeleton Crew would be at least 1000 years old to the eyes of the pirates.

If there was one question I'd like answered, it's "when did this all start". How long, generationally, has At Attin been off the grid? Like it honestly doesn't matter for the story itself, because at minimum the galaxy has been turned on its head twice since.

Ended up enjoying this show way more than I expected I would. After Mando/Boba Fett, this might actually be my favorite live action Star Wars show.

I do wish they couldve had Hondo show up at some point though lol

I liked the show and liked the ending, but it was a little abrupt. Some time to debrief and reflect with these characters at the end would have been nice.

I hope there is a season 2.

Except, I'm pretty sure when they say "Old Republic" they are talking about the Republic during the prequel trilogy, before it fell to the Empire. Remember this show takes place during the New Republic, and the supervisor even mentions that the last time the Republic had contacted them was at the end of the Clone Wars to tell them that the Jedi had turned traitors.

I hope they do season 2, otherwise that abrupt ending would be a bit weird lol.

Speaking of the credits, the scenes that played out at the start of them. Was it one of Wim's books, or a telling of how Jod was rescued and learned the force? And then randomly the kids leaving the planet.

The finale was good. Was cool seeing the parents have faith in their kids, eventually. When Wim's dad did the jump on the hover bike and acted like a kid himself was funny.

From what I just read, this has been one of the least viewed star wars TV shows :( so likely we may not get a season 2. Who knows, I've not seen any outrage over it, unlike the acolyte.

The trailers really give me a strong "kid's show" vibe. Are the trailers accurate in this regard? This is why I haven't given it a shot yet. Does it feel like it was aimed at children?

Kid's show in the sense that the main characters are kids. It's not super kiddy or anything like that. Very 80's Amblin inspired. Think ET but before they CGI'ed the guns to walkie talkies. Or The Goonies. "Kid's movies" but not afraid of some scary scenes or putting kids in danger.

It was all scenes from Wim's books, and the last scene was the kids, basically putting their adventure beside all the other old tales.

I figured that would be the case. Would have been a cool little Easter egg if it was a quick telling of Jod's past.

Are we all children here?

Anyway, I liked it quite a bit. I don't know if there will be a season 2, but Dave Filoni has his movie in the works:

"Dave Filoni would make his live-action feature directorial debut with a film set in the New Republic era, connecting storylines that began with The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, Ahsoka, and Skeleton Crew."

Show was good overall, but I'm really getting tired of movies/shows that just end. Just beat the bad guy and The End, no wrapping up loose ends, no short scenes showing the aftermath of the events, nothing just over.

Now I need to ask for people who thought it ended too abruptly.

What were you hoping for specifically?

Just from my perspective, I thought it ended pretty cleanly. There wasn't any lingering, no real sequel hooks (which I'm VERY tired of but that's just me), and no contrived cameos.

The kids are home. The villain is foiled. This adventure is over.

Now the future is certainly unclear for them now that they're an existing planet in the New Republic, with the whole community's lives upended, but I really feel that greater galactic implications aren't the focus of this story.

I mean the entire planets way of live just got upended, I would think they would have shown some consequences of that even if it was just a scene or two of them rebuilding and figuring out how to go one without the supervisor running their entire society.

Even if you just want to show it from the kids' point of view their entire educational system was based around maintaining computer systems and accounting, do they I don't know get to learn anything else maybe choose a career they want to do? Wim's whole story was how he wants adventure and not just a boring desk job.

This reminds me of my grandfather whenever he watched a movie. At the end, he'd always be like "SO WHAT HAPPENED TO 'EM".

Stories end. They have a stopping point. If you're not told anything else about the characters you're free to interpret what happened after however you like.

Like I said, this is the story of the four kids and their adventure. What happens next? They live their lives, the adventure having changed them.

If Lucasfilm wants to tell us more, we'll learn more.

In a weird way, I kind of actually take the disappointing finale in a good way. That I DO want to know more shows that I was invested enough to give a shit to see any sort of resolutions or what comes next.

I feel it's the difference between "I want more story to these characters because I'm invested in them" and "I didn't get enough wrap-up to satisfy me to have this particular story ended in the way I wanted".
