It is in that upper tier for sure with like Back to the Future from the same year and Ferris Bueller's Day Off the year after and probably Fast Times at Ridgemont High from the year before and Ghostbusters to round out a top 5 of upper tier 80's classics though there are many more amazing ones right on the cusp of that I could name. I'm not interested in a part 2. Whether it is new kids or whether it is the 50 year old actors doing cameos or part of the movie it just won't hit the same. I was 9 years old when the original came out and it was lighting in a bottle for what is really kind of a generic story.
