I'm about 9 episodes into the series and I love it. There's way more humor than I thought there would be too. A lot stilded and dark humor, but I love that stuff >_> It feels like it's a show about lowlife mobsters doing lowlife mobster things.

I already know about the ending btw

The Tony and therapist sessions are fucking great btw, as well as all the interactions between the mobsters like Paulie, Big Pussy, and Silvio. And Tony's Russian girlfriend is a very talented actress and I enjoy seeing her bring her character to life on screen

Going into the show knowing it's a dark comedy about psychology is the best way to watch it. It's my favorite show of all time and has so much rewatchability where you notice new details and one-liners each time.

I love Livia... my favorite character. A horrible person, but so melodramatic and hilarious.

Best series, tbh. I watch this show annually and I always seem to find out new meaning or even new feelings each view. Last year, I played closer attention to the last season and was in awe on how I completely ignored a huge change in a certain character. It completely changed the ending of the series for me tbh.

Yeah, it was a huge deal back in the day lol. I never saw an episode of Sopranos unitl 2011, but knew about the ending well in advance

I subscribe to the theory that the guy who walked into the diner at sat at the counter, then went into the bathroom, came out of the bathroom and shot Tony to end it. Hence the immidiate cut to black as his brains get blown out. Maybe the rest of the family, too.

There's a few shows that I wish I could erase from my memory all so I could have the pleasure to watch them for the first time again. The Sopranos is definitely one of them. I'm glad you're enjoying it.

LMAO @ episode 11 where it opens with the gang in a brothel, but then Big Pussy thinks he's having a heart attack, and they call in a dude doctor from another room, who rushes into the room wearing a maid outfit to check him out

This is one of those shows I find to be infinitely re-watchable. It doesn't really get old to me.

oh for sure, the final season was probably the darkest of the show so far!

would love to rewatch it eventually but there's always other shows i wanna keep up with.

But this. Comparing season 1 to season 6 is like whiplash. It's still incredibly great TV so don't let it discourage you TC. It's a super black comedy anyway.

It does. The show is a super black comedy. For me, almost anything Phil says is funny even if it's messed up or hateful. The character, the writing, and Frank Vincent's acting are just perfect. There's plenty of other moments too, but I don't want to get to spoiler-y.

But that's also when you start to get gems from Phil Leotardo every dang time he opens his mouth!

The actress that plays Isabella is a very talented actress and I enjoy seeing that actress bring her character to life on screen

I avoided watching the show for decades because nearly every major plot point had been spoiled for me (either via old Maxim magazines or just plain bad luck while I was channel-surfing), and I hate having shit spoiled for me. Thankfully I still ended up loving the show when I finally sat down and watched it last year. I won't risk even spoiler tags in this topic, but my number one favorite moment ended up being an instance where I said to myself 'oh shit, I remember what happens here' about ten seconds before it happened.

The first Sopranos thing I watched was a spoiler. Was flipping channels and landed on it. "Oh yeah, I heard this show is good" I thought. The scene was a major season 5 spoiler about a certain character.

I think getting spoiled so much over the years has sort of made me immune to them. If a show is good, I can enjoy it even if I know certain things. Of course not everyone is like that.

Exact same thing happened to me. Prior to my watchthrough a year ago I'd seen like two episodes of Sopranos in my life, and that just happened to be one of them :/

i remember years ago watching that Family Guy episode where Stewie finally killed Lois.

didnt realize they ended up spoiling the Sopranos finale at the time with that gag at the end of part 2... lol

Finished Season 1, it was pretty good.

I love the show, but the episodes are pretty long sometimes though >_> I can't watch too much at a time

I'm of the opinion that all good mob sagas should slide into a dark, depressing, and / or mundane note by the end, to drive home to the viewer that a life of organized crime ultimately doesn't pay. The 'fall' part of the arc is just as important as the 'rise,' even though the rise is invariably more fun.

That's right. It's like when you watch Goodfellas. The moment you see the outside shot of Henry's club in Queens (the Billy Batts scene), that's the peak of the ride up and the start of the fall. But it's still great the whole way.

I must've seen Goodfellas at least 7 times. Incredible movie
